Here are a few videos of my squatting today. Apart from the obvious (I need to get much stronger in the squat), can anyone give me some technical pointers and tell me if they are deep enough?
Sorry for the double post (they are also in my journal), but I wanted to get a few opinions.

130 for 3

140

150

160 fail

160 in wraps

168 fail

another belt couldnt hurt .....

the 160 in wraps was a nicer movement , probably confidence , or terror !!

your just too long !! kenders may be better placed for tips

yeah, the wraps 160 is the one I prefer.Makes me want to buy a squat suit to be honest. The belt is one of the ones that was used to climb up telephone poles 30 years ago! It has big metal rings on the side and isn't ideal, but probably better than nothing. The wraps are a pair I got from discount supplements a couple of years ago and aren't much better than a thick bandage really, but it gives a mental boost.

I'm definitely toying with equipped squatting because the more kit I have on, the better I feel and the more "natural" the movement feels. My knees are fairly knackered anyway, so any support is more than welcome.

Can't do much about being completely the wrong shape for squatting, but maybe equipped would suit me better.

yea, deffo get a nice pair of knee wraps !!

and why not get a nice basic titan centurion - doesnt have to be 'competition fit' like the guys wear to convince themselves they are getting stronger (me included) just a nice fit , straps down , straps up ...so much veriety !!

titan superior nxg

and titan centurion nxg

Any opinions? They both look the same to me!

What about some decent basiic wraps?

Deep enough? Yes.

Not pretty to watch - you're so not built for squatting!!

Unless you're planning to compete in equipped powerlifting I personally see no point in buying a squat suit. Just persevere with it. Your stabiliser muscles should strengthen and your lifts will become more solid. You are bending quite a way forward. You should make a conscious effort not to.

Nico id personally advise when your getting to weights that are near your pb you should have a spotter pal...dumping the bar behind you like that is gonna do you no favours especially with you been so tall!!

Do some front squats, they will help sort your form out

How tall are you?

Being tall is an excuse for not squatting well, not a reason.

Ive always found that my squat improves as my volume does. As the movement doesnt come as naturally to us longer limbed fellas we need to practice more often.

you squat similar to me lol!

one thing i noticed is you dont seem to get much of a breathe or setup.

personally i unrack, have my head up high (never looking at the floor). take a huge deep breathe, hold if for a second then descent.

for the leaning thing ive not found anything yet that has stopped it (fronties, hypers blah blah) but paused back squats do seem to help somewhat with me.

Pausing in the hold for 3 seconds (obviously you need less weight to do this, start with 80ish for 3 and see how you feel with them)

just my tuppence Grin f**k the squat suit! seriously its not worth it at thiis stage

Stick you arse back, as if you were attempting to sit back on a low box.

you would benefit from low box squats - using submaximal weights obviously.

do good heavy mornings regularly - don't over arch on these though

Instead of thinking "head up" think "chest up" - its by keeping the chest high/shoulders back that the torso stays upright.

Come up and train with us any time - we'll sort you out in a few sessions.
