If they do big jumps in the deadlift...Shaw may end up pulling say 460..if the next jump is 480..I doubt anyone will lift that.

Overhead is fairly light and will have a fitness element to it.

Shaw and Ed have done 175kg log for reps at Arnold's twice I think and both get similar reps. Kieliskowski is a beast on reps, I actually think he will win overhead, time will run out rather than his strength or fitness.

The circus barbell moves about a lot too doesn't it? Last time the athletes commented that it was difficult to manage despite not being hugely heavy.

Terry said that having to wait for the bar to stop wobbling before pressing would limit the amount of reps possible within the time limit.

That should definitely favour those who are more strict pressers, such as Ed

Looking at z posts on Facebook I think strongman will be taking a back seat for his political career in Lithuania

This pure size and static strength priority has taken away (by my narrow view) the Ultimate strong/fit vision.

I fully expect most competitors now to have a coronary mid-lifting.

This is why I admire Loz, who is at least naturally lighter than the big boys and yet still shifts and keeps up/at the top.

He's a real athlete, like Thor. The sport is like bodybuilding-doomed tp cult status, with most gym goers thinking its a freakshow of fat lads massively abusing gear. CrossFit is the men's physique of the strength world.

Thor is quick...Jenkins was as well. They're just super strong as well...far better strongmen than early 2000's strongmen.
The only strongmen of old I actually see would compete with today's are Kaz and OD. Also Viraystyk but he was in the crossover period anyway.

Both these men are /were natural giants who took gear, not big men who went crazy with insulin etc.

Kaz would win WSM now if he was in 1980 shape, pre-pec tear. 660bench, 900plus raw squat, near 900 dead, seated 500 pressing. Fast as f**k, and an ego that makes Hall seem like a beta male. He was an in shape. 330. Pure beast.

I've heard this from a bunch of people but after all the footage I've seen of him i can't see him even making the finals. Didn't look anywhere near athletic enough and everyone and there dog seems to be pulling 900lb+ these days.

You must not have watched much footage then. This is 900 powerlifting rules, not strapped, suited, hitched, soft lockout and weighing 400lbz

I seem to remember ed having the best technique on it last year as he didn't wait for the bar to stay still and basically used the initial bounce from catching the bar in the rack position to get the press started. Everyone else seemed to wait for it to settle before pressing.

Unfortunately for Ed though it sounds like that event might be light enough that it doesn't necessarily favour the strongest presser but the fittest. Also even if he does win the event without most of the other real monster pressers like lalas and radz there I can't see him putting too much distance between him and Shaw/thor on this event.

Shaw loses to Hall in one lift-Log, that's it. Not barbell, dumbbell or anything else. There'll be no gap because Shaw will match or beat Hall.

Agreed. He will need Belsak and Kielszkowski up there.

I think Hall can win but he needs a bad day from Shaw and Thor for that to happen. The gaps are tight between them on events like Stones and Truck pull. Could go either way for any of them.

If he can beat Shaw on frame he has a chance.
