Was looking at some squat videos from a novice comp I did a couple weeks back and figured why not upload them? Was dissapointed to miss 205kg and a little surprised tbh, given how training had been going and how 190kg moved. Think if this hadn't been the third event of the day I'd have smashed it, gonna hit some big squats in the gym this year Happy sorry bout the view not being the best :/

Cracking squatting there, more so for your bantam body weight Wink (I'm 136kg BTW, so youre a feather weight as far as I'm concerned haha) Happy

I'd say the 190kg squat looked strong, but that was close to your limit, the extra 15kg really looked heavy

15kg's a massive jump, hell, I've failed squats with an extra 2.5kg added on when I've been at my limit!

Thanks man, youre right i think 195-200 was probably my limit for the day. Conditions werent the best for a big squat tbh, think my limit is a bit higher in the gym. Plan to triple 190 in the next few weeks Happy

The 190 was nice and smooth, the 205 started very promisingly. You definitely aren't far away though!

I hate good mornings! Tried them a few times and just can get to grips with 'em Confused Been doing a lot of pause squats since this comp, that's surely got to help?

Just love goodmornings myself..and i did my 240 squat whilst upto 160 on the good mornings. Scooped me out of the hole...and i could deadlift flat backed back then as well.

goodmornings are like being tied up and whipped with nettles...not for most people mate!

actually, a pretty rubbish analergy that

Got to disagree here, Danny. Can't say it would hurt to train some but he squats too upright for them to make a huge magnitude of difference.

I reckon front squats have the potential to be beneficial in this case but it seemed to be more an overall lack of strength to take on 205 than a specific weak point. Pause squats are a must in my book. Could also squat with band/chain resistance to help teach drive through the sticking point but wouldn't call them a necessity.

now fella, weve had this chat on another thread...recall Im only about 12 inches tall Wink He squats upright indeed. Enjoyable position actually. Im betting fobber is a tall bloke.

Band/ chains are a good call.

one Q Fobber...why such a big jump and not 200 or 197?

Guy before me squatted 200kg so was trying to take first place. As it happens it wouldn't have mattered anyway, he hit 210kg on his final attemp (cheating bas***d used wraps though Grin Tongue ). Plus probably let the ego get in the way a bit, before the comp I was sure I'd squat 200-210 easily but it just wasn't there on the day.

Another vid from the comp, 80kg log for reps

And training vid, 100kg log for a triple

Surprised you failed that 205. The 190 was piss.

Fair enough, nothing wrong with the occasional squat fail!

Ive totalled some big lifts, only means my depth is good...by-the-way Flobber, your depth looked smashing.
