I see it like athletics. You get the Diamond league and all the athletes in the running event are black with short hair and wearing the same nike kit. You kind of lose interest. Soon as world champs or Olympic comes along and they're wearing their nations kit you know who is who and get behind your athletes more plus recognise other nations athletes. I think they should do the same with WSM.

Doesn't have to be a nations kit like at the olympics, but just something to distinguish that athlete as being that nation.

The walk out with the flags doesn't really give the viewers enough opportunity to remember who is who.

I actually think thatd be good

I generally mean quite obviously do it rather than just a little flag.

Thor for example could be more viking! JPS you remember him in a kilt and being viking like.

Hixxy have a union jack bandana.

Derek Boyer could have been more like a traditional islander clothing.

I am not talking Notting Hill carnival here, you could make it still look professional just with little tweaks.

Some nations it does get harder, but just simple red and white kit for the Polish athletes.

I will explain it more. Take the 3k steeple chase. You will get 10 Kenyan runners all with a name beginning with K with s shaved head all wearing the same Nike kit. I have seen sprint event where it is the same..apart from everyone recognises Bolt. Strongman hasn't got a Bolt. Come world champs you can actually tell who is who when they have different kits on. Races and strongman events are mainly seen from a zoomed out camera.

You can see it as racism if you want. It is an issue being discussed in athletics due to people losing interest in meets because everyone looks the same in the races. Plus the example of strongman would be the opposite, all big tall white men with short hair and facial hair.

I do.

Especially coming from someone who spouted about the non existent 'anti American' feel on this site.

Well when you edit my post in your quote and miss out certain vital parts it may look like racism. The whole point of my post was to focus on the kit, you chose to edit that out and focus on skin colour.

Most of the top runners are black with short hair, most of the top strongmen are white with short hair. Your regular fan on a zoomed out camera won't know who is who. They can in athletics when it comes to major champs and they have their nations kit on, they can't at diamond league when they're all wearing the same nike kit.

So are you in fact saying all people of the same race look the same?

Actually, don't answer, I'm not interested.

When they're on a zoomed out camera, all with a shaved head and wearing the same kit and all from the same valley rift in Kenya, then yes I do find it hard to distinguish.

Some interesting groups. It's fair to say I'm looking even more forward this year. Standard is crazy, definitely think there will be a couple of world records to be broken. Think max deadlift will be awesome. Few guys capable of pulling 440.Dare I ask, could someone pull 450?

I think it all depends on the kit, if it's on a slightly thicker, rigid bar with globes like last time we won't see the weights we would on a more flexible standard bar.

The standard is crazy but still easy enough to pick the guys who qualify.

Bit disappointed its only six events in the final, would rather more, the cream rises to the top the more events you do

Wish would use standard bar. I know the globe's look cool to the casual, but a bar with standard weights would benefit the atheletes more
