First powerlifting comp' was the BDFPA NW (uneq'), lifted u90kg and did 190/122.5/237.5 I think, won my weight class but only 2 in it IIRC. Saw Ste Baker drop 150kg bench press on his chest and get up laughing... I learned that some powerlifters are crazy. I met Mark Haydock (best lifter) as he took my piss for testing, got chatting and started strongman training not too long after when he opened his unit.

First strongman comp', I hadn't intended to compete in my first year training as I knew I wasn't strong (took me weeks of trying to get a 70kg log up, flip a 350kg tyre and load a 100kg stone), but got talked into doing the IAWA South Downs comp'... came =7th from 9 (should have been 6th but I was given 3rd on farmers for distance even though I clearly came 2nd). Learned that I loved competing in strongman, much more than powerlifitng and that I needed to get bigger and a lot stronger to be remotely competetive. (Edit - came back the following year about 10kg heavier and came 2nd overall and 1st in u105s).
