Lost a bit of strength on squats over the last month with my intercostal tear and extra effort on bench press.

So the next month will be about building it back up to around 200kg. Before pushing on and adding a bit more weight.

Squats 9am session in garage, so bloody cold!!!

75x5. 90x5. 110x3. 130x3. 150x3. 165x3. 170x3.

5x5 @130 with 1 minute rest in between each set to increase stamina and build some leg size....

Hard session, but nothing on the edge!!

Hi mate. How did you tear you intercostal and what diagnosis/rehab did you follow? I had an injury in that area doing a turkish get up and it is still irritating me 6 weeks later.

Cheers

Hi, I tore my intercostal muscle by dropping the bar on to my ribs when benching, although I've also popped it squatting before.

I took a week off training. Then started benching and shoulder pressing.

It's still painful in the mornings when I wake up, but I just get on with it.

I'm back squatting and deadlifting now, but not using a belt as this can add extra pressure.

It's the type of injury that sticks around for a good few months....
