Luke82 | Strength standards for the ladies | 22-10-2015 @ 09:50
Enjoys his parents fully stocked fridge. Member 3476, 868 posts SQ 170, BP 136, DL 217.5523.5 kgs @ 95kgs UnEq | I'm not about to go transgender in order to win powerlifting, my missus has been training with me for the past month and was wondering what a decent level of strength was for women, and I have no idea. What are some respectable standards? Not winning powerlifting meets strong, but a good level to aim for for a hobbyist. She's currently doing 3 x 5 on squat (60 KG) bench (40) and deads (80). I didn't think this was too bad considering she has never ever lifted before but she's convinced it's piddly!

a cynical old scrote Member 68, 6911 posts SQ 255, BP 132.5, DL 250637.5 kgs @ 110kgs UnEq | Body weight would be the obvious question to establish if those weights were piddy or not I suppose.

Member 541, 5053 posts SQ 192.5, BP 120, DL 222.5535.0 kgs @ 92.8kgs UnEq | That is a good level of strength for a woman. I have seem women compete in regional GBPF events at those levels, or lower.

Coached by deine Mutter Member 5887, 145 posts SQ 182, BP 115, DL 200497.0 kgs @ 83kgs UnEq | Women strength standards differ because light classes and women are favored, atleast in western europe. So a women can still pull off 40kg in the bench, has 50 wilks and could win a national championship. Also women don't compete and there are to less women in the sport, so strength standards are ridiculous low, to actually say the truth. The russian standards are much harder and even the norwegian standards are high.

Those are not very different to what my wife did when she started (a bit more on deadlift) - she went on to lift 210, 142.5, 201. Tell her it doesn't matter where you start it's where you end up.

‘downsizing’ Member 5704, 3349 posts SQ 280, BP 210, DL 320810.0 kgs @ 96.3kgs UnEq | not idea what weight she is but for a middleweight 67.5kg woman a 300kg+ total is a good unequipped target to aim for initially. it'll typically mean squat and deadlift are both over 100kg.

‘downsizing’ Member 5704, 3349 posts SQ 280, BP 210, DL 320810.0 kgs @ 96.3kgs UnEq | There's a few top women out there pushing those numbers raw - at ralls this Monday there was a lifter Emma James I think her name, anyway she doubled 120kg without much fuss before sticking a shirt on and going 200kg+ - impressive stuff and she's not big at all
