Well done mate. You think you gained some valuable experience? Just think how you'll do with a bit better prep!

How did your total break down? You hit any PB's?

Thank you to everyone who attended today and to all those who assisted in the running of the event, despite being a lovely day there was a pretty good audience.
The subject of spotters has reared its head in a couple of threads on the site and I thought this one was the right place to raise the issue. Two of the people who assured me they were going to help on the day didn't turn up in spite of that we managed to get a good team together by the usual walking around the venue begging routine. At the time Andy was squatting there were three british champions on the loading team two of which were super heavies if Andy had just stalled out I'm sure with very little assistance the bar would have been back into the racks in the blink of an eyelid. As it was he had incurred an injury meaning the spotters had to work much harder to recover the lifter and 315kg bar into the safety of the racks and bearing in mind Andy is well over 6 foot its quite a height to lift that weight to which meant it took several seconds to do.
I wish Andy a swift recovery, I'm sure we'll see him back on the platform soon.
Spotting is hard work, there's no doubt about it but if a few more people were willing to come forward and have a go then you could make the whole job easier for everyone even if it's just for a couple of rounds. You don't need to be a mathematician to load the bar correctly, the referees are there to help you with the number crunching. We all spot our training partners every week in the gym, doing it on the platform is not a lot different and if anything it will make you a better training partner.
It's easy for the uninitiated to come on a forum and blurt out criticism about loaders yet as Rick wisely pointed out how often when they are not lifting are they loading the bar for their comrades?. Everyone involved in running this sport is a volunteer who does it because they want to see it done correctly.

i can agree with bryn , spotting is a very tough act , when a big weight comes up , you know the lifter wants 3 whites but the spotters want it more !!

well done all !

cheers mate and ye experiance good and learn to listen more Happy and my squat i dident push ive done more b4 just with the injury i had and doing a daft diet left me unconfidend next time next time and was guna go 4 a 97.5kg bench which would be a pb but martin thought a 100 would go so i tryed and failed Unhappy and on the deadlift done a 205kg and smashed my pb by 7.5kg cause i usually use straps as my grip goes cause in the gym i train in the bars hve less grip then a 5 year old pair ov running trainers impossible Unhappy but all in all had a good day and was happy with my total due to cercumstances Happy
