Anyone got any good stretches for the calves/ankle joint?

I know the standard ones, but often someone has a gem that's worked for them.

Anything I should really be doing?

calf drops for sets of 20 reps
calf drops from squat depth for 20 reps.

I always felt that my lack of ankle flexibility impeded my dead lifting ability. Never did anything about it though Roll-Eyes

Back squat with weight on bar... Lean to one side trying to put pressure on the ankle

Great for increasing ankle mobility and stretching you achilles and soleus

Not great if you wanted a simply easy to do stretch I know

But it's not a quick job but the best one

If you want simple stretches you may find they are more superficial and less effective I feel

Stretching the joints around the ankle...is the knee... Is only going to be of benefit

Coming back to this...

We can't have too many stretches to pick from so I actually would like more now

I mean who ever said that they don't want to be more mobile anyway...?

Yeah let's hit some new challenging ankle stretches...

Also knee some new knee ones would be great... I'm hitting the sofa or couch stretch whatever it's called with bands currently

If you really want to push it you could try that barbell across the knees stretch.

You could raise your toes by sticking something underneath them, and really go to town on that.

I used to do that for ten minutes or so...frequently

I bet I haven't don't that properly for three years Unhappy

best one is simply go into a really deep stretch for 30s or a minute after a set of calf raises: like an agonisingly deep stretch lol
benefits: calfs walm therefore more plyable/less likely to tear through being cold while stretching AND has growth potential

I wrap a band around a power rack then around my ankle, walk out so i have some good tension and put the ball of my foot onto a plate and then push knee forward whilst keeping heel on the floor.
