Word is you pulled like a mofo tonight. Nice work. My only fear is that in the absence of Rob there will be no sugden tv production Unhappy

Tonights training;

Log press
10x30
5x65
5x75 - comfy
2x5x77.5 - super hard, but pleased to make them

log clean
1x90 - too tough. lower back is mighty fatigued just now and it is starting to show
fx95 - silly to fail it, but couldn't quite make it.

then was so hungry that i had to break for soup and bread.

close grip bench
8x60
8x80
7x90 - failed on 8th rep
3x100 - nice. haven't ever repped above 95 before, even on normal bench

shrugs
8x100
2x8x140

Aye, but it'll be 92.5 on Sunday Cool

1x90kg - i think this is a PB (just goes to show how crap i am with push presses!)

Still nice to make a PB, and triples up to 85 is not bad either. So are you now ready for the head to head log challenge on Sunday?? Happy

Random monday sesh, intent on nailing a new deadlift pb but damn that bar was heavy

Deadlifts
8x60
5x100
3x140
1x170 - fast and easy, best rep i've sone this heavy for definite
fx195 - got to just below knees. Hip strength is lacking i think, but i will now back off for a while before tanning the badboy. Also failed a second attempt but it was more just a slight exertion rather than a fail...
3x160 - wiped by now, but glad to make a triple. Could be the first time at this weight, although maybe not.
1x160 - the tank was empty

rows
2x8x100 - decent

Thanks all Happy

Shortish strongman session today;

Yoke
132x20m
192x20m
232x20m - first time I've made it with no stops

Farmers walks
50x40m
70x40m - thought about 60m but decided against it. Weight is fine, but conditioning is pretty sub-par
90x20m - made it about 18m without a drop, just couldn't quite make the full 20, next time for sure tho.

Thanks guys.

Olly - Aye, you're probably right about not hanging about for so long. I'm not sure if I do it on lighter weights too, I think not, but on the heavier squats I am more aware of getting the stance, focus, and breath in at the start all right. With the weights I am squatting now it's not really an issue (like you say) but I guess I should try and get into the habit of squatting a bit sooner after unracking, for that time I do get to 180, or 200.... Another rock n' rolling session tonight...

Squats
8x60
4x100
3x3x120 - pretty easy, managed to keep form decent throughout

power cleans
5x60
2x70 - not that easy. first time i've done them for quite a while tho, so was just testing the water really
2x3x70 - still tough but ok

bench
8x60
3x90
1x105 - fast
1x112.5 - new PB
1x115 - another PB Not super hard either. Feels heavy in the hands but the pressing was solid. Mibbie a wee bit more there (another day)
8x90 - nice

Close grip bench
10x57.5
8x77.5

Thanks man. Aye, certainly did! I'm not quite sure it is ifsa spec, but meets the edinburgh strength 'its s**t' requirements Happy

Good work on the dead PB man. If you can make 5 singles at it, regardless of form, you should nail that 200 now!

Ok, the science of super low volume and low reps shall be revealed. Short term goals probably bodyweight log press, 110kg farmers walks for 20m, 300kg yoke for 20m, and also stop dicking around and get my PL total to 500...

Last nights lifting;

Secretly got lost on the way home from work today, and was so hungry and pissed off that i took it out on the log!

8x30
4x65
3x75
1x82.5
1x87.5 - fast and easy PB (old max 85kg)
1x90 - hard but solid PB
fx92.5 clean is ok, but nothing much left for the press. soon though.

curls with log
8x40
6x45

90 overhead was nice. bit of a milestone as its the minimum weight used for comps in strongman. getting closer to bodweight too, slowly but surely...

Hi All,

I am Buzz of the famous Edinburgh team, training buddy of the spangly giant, recent guest of sugden, Jonathan.
Rob - I saw that my total was just above and felt that the right thing to do was to register and shift you down a spot, even just temporarily Happy
You do of course have a few years on me, and as a youngster I expect you to leapfrog me in no time, as I am getting old and fraile these days....

My aim is to hit a 200 dead very shortly, but after trying to pick up 195 the other day I am not quite so confident.
