vegetarian with a big deadlift - who would have thought... Member 340, 13300 posts SQ 315, BP 190, DL 350855.0 kgs @ 110kgs UnEq | Wayne_Cowdrey said: Thanks. You mean the zercher stuff? The world record for the full zercher lift for my weight class is 235. I'm on 197! I'm not aware of there being a record for the zercher squat. Yes, the Zerchers... 235kg sounds like a good challenge. I recall there were some decent numbers to be chased if you were that way inclined.

Have you experimented with lower bar positions on your back? They take getting used to initially but reduce direct cervical spine loading. Thanks for the input I have good form on zerchers. I've never heard of a zercher injury, although that doesn't mean they don't happen! No, I haven't experimented with lower positions. I just sit the bar where it feels "right".

When I say "full zercher" I mean when you dead lift it to the knees first. The "zercher dead lift", where you take it all the way from the floor in the crook of your arms, doesn't look very spine friendly! I never do those. I'm not flexible enough to get down that low anyway!

I want to look after my spine. I think I'll only train back squats and yoke if I've got a comp coming up with them in. I'll stick to zercher squats, zercher lifts and front squats. Thats a bit like saying your mate snapped his knob during sex....so I dont wanna have sex again!? Strange reasoning IMO Solid few sessions nonetheless

Maybe it's from years of heavy beltless work? I don't know. I do need to push it a bit harder though. I could have held it for longer.

Still got a little bit of strength Member 400, 22055 posts | Posting from my phone. Strict press - 3 sets of 2 with 102.5 Zercher squats - 2 sets of 2 with 192.5 "Axle zercher clean" experiment - 1 very ugly rep with 61 was enough to demonstrate that this isn't a satisfactory method of cleaning! Nearly injured my thumb. Some gay s**t - light leg curls and plate front raises.
