Also a bit concerned about the ongoing shoulder problems. Front squat 60kg*5 60gk*5 100kg*3 140kg*3 Deadlift 120kg*5 170kg*3 190kg*3 - add belt 220kg*2 230kg*2 240kg*2 250kg*2 260kg*2 All felt pretty sharp apart from the second rep with 260, but was feeling a little tired and hungry by then. Going with a narrower stance and quite a low, tight belt, which feels just right at the moment. The return to back squats has definitely been a good thing. Back to them next week. I reckon that 3 weeks heavy squats then 1 week deadlifts is the pattern for a while now. | ||

Axle c&p 75kg 3*3 Log 85kg3*1 Overhead medley 85kg log, block press (? weight), 85kg axle 90kg log, block press, 90kg axle 95kg log, block press, 95kg axle No discomfort from shoulder. Good news. Farmers' walk - thick handles 90kg per hand*30m 90kg*30m 100kg*30m Stones 100kg to 60 inches 2*1 100kg shoulder to 68/69 inches 1*fail 1*1 Getting the stone to shoulder now but it didn't really make loading it that easy. Need to keep working on this as there are 3 higher platforms to go yet. Good fun. | ||

Very excited. Getting nearer to my best, weighing 1 stone less than I did. Deadlift 120kg*5 170kg*3 190kg*3 210kg*2 - urgh 210kg*2 210kg*2 - suddenly felt very easy (belt too tight?) 210kg*2 - got unpleasant again 210kg*2 I predict that I will feel very used tomorrow. But things are looking good. Just got to keep getting fatter. | ||

Left it there as stone was wet and muddy. Tyre flip Lightest tyre*5 Medium tyre*4 - agin, muddy as hell Less than ideal conditions today, too cold, wet and muddy, but at least the overheads felt stable and fairly easy. | ||

Bike/row to warm up folowed by light rehab exercises for shoudlers. Powerclean (from hang) 60kg 5 sets of 3 Standing 1 arm DB press 10kg 2*10 (each arm, 1 set palms in, one palms out) 17.5kg 2*10 (as above) 20kg 2*5 (ibid) Hammer curls 1*10 Hammer curl and press (kind of like a 'viper' press with dumbells) 10kg*10 20kg*7 Also did a lot of tidying up between sets due to the high volume of inconsiderate fools who train there. | ||

Been a bit famine and feast. Therefore was very conscious of the burger, chips and chicken nuggets threatening... Squat 60kg*5 60kg*5 100kg*5 140kg*3 180kg*1 180kg*1 - belt and wraps on 200kg*1 220kg*1 230kg*1 240kg*1 - best squat in 2.5 years. First time I've used wraps and it felt weird. Deadlift 120kg*5 170kg*3 190kg*3 220kg*3 - belt on for these Left it there. Next week I'll rest the squats, thank god. | ||

Not a good session. Borne out of anxiety really. Decided to do the GBPF comp next week, so somehow persuaded myself that working up to my openers would be a good idea. Retarded. Rushed through, didn't get warm enough etc. First 2 times I walked up to the 250 deadlift I just completely lost it. Didn't even start pulling. Third effort took real psyching up and was phenomenally slow. At least it was a good clean lift. Lessons learnt: 1. Warm up properly 2. Find out how to use wraps correctly 3. More sets to warm up for the deadlift | ||

Really worked on gettting back arch and a distinct second pull. Presses not on song. Kept getting exertion headaches so didn't really push them. Bench 60kg*1,1,1 80kg*1 90kg*1 100kg*1 Going for a token bench next week. Just having a feel. Will probably go 100 and leave it there. Worked on a few technical things which seemed to help keep pressure off shoulder. Pullups Machine 2*10 Bodyweight 20 reps total DB row 37.5kg*10 50kg*5 50kg*10 Have picked some really conservative openers for next week. Looking forwards to it. Just wish I had been a bit more structured with my build-up. A couple of v.light sessions next week, then after the comp will begin getting ready for the Adlington meet. | ||
