I think there's a prospect we could put on a better strongman comp in 2012. Difficulty atm is that some lads do highland games events as well and both are on the same day at the same venue. Maybe if they were on successive Saturdays we could have a 6 event strongman competition. Maybe add farmers, log and car pull? We have the equipment for that.

Felt as good today as I felt bad yesterday Confused

Cross trainer - 2 Km in 29.42
Lat Pulldowns - 5 sets of 10 with 60
Facepulls - 5 sets of 10 with 40
Ab Machine - 3 sets of 20 with 50
Triceps Pressdowns - 5 sets of 10, first set with 25, rest with 30
Arm Curl machine - 3 sets of 10 with 25; 3 sets of 10 with 30.

Forgot my shorts, so no bloody sauna and steam Unhappy

Lungs definitely getting better. A few weeks ago 1 Km was a lung burner. Today I cruised through 2 Km. Just so bloody boring! I think part of my bench problem may be not enough assistance work, hence the triceps pressdowns. I've also ordered a power tower off Strength Shop, so I'll be able to do pull ups and dips in the garage. Also ordered a second bar, so will start back on deadlifts again too.

I'm hoping yesterday was an aberration and that I can blitz bench on Sunday. Maybe 5 sets of 3 with 145, and see if I can take that up to 155 over the next three weeks.

Had a go at events today

Stones - couldn't move the small one, my leg won't let me get into the right position. That's stones out then
Tyre - couldn't move it, similar problem to the stones really, but I think I could move a slightly smaller one. So that's the plan.
Farmer's Walk, 60Kg per hand - 2 x 25 metres, 2 x 20 metres. Tough but I did it. My left hip now feels as if I've been sideswiped by a bus.

Sports Centre

Concept Rower
1000 metres in 5.24. Just getting the feel of it and working out how the display works
1000 metres in 4.46. Started off like a train, hit the wall about 600 and struggled home. It's a target...
Ab Machine - 3 sets of 20 with 50
Cross Trainer - 1 Km in 14.08. That's a pb, but I wanted to break 14 minutes and hammered the last bit. Machine kept telling me heart rate was too high, and this blocked the time and distance readings. Grrrrh!

Followed by sauna, steam and home clean. Called in at Co-op and they were selling packs of 2 coconut cakes for 6p. Bought 4 packs, there goes the weight loss...

hey martin nice work in that session

what does the small stone weigh?
AvatarMartin1956
Thanks Jason. Probably about 80 kilos. The problem was my leg, not the weight. I struggle to pick a pound coin off the floor. But I think I can manage a slightly smaller tyre (this was a 300 kilo one) and I did farmers Happy My left hip is killing now, think I must have been favouring the bad leg. I'll do tyre and farmers again, keep it light and get better conditioning. Don't think I'll row after farmers again either!

Bench

Another s**tty session, but the guys training with me all did really well.

Bar for 20
40 for 10
60 for 8
90 for 5
110 for 4
130 for 3
145 for 3
145 for 2
145 for 2
135 for 4
125 for 6

Speed - plus one small blue band

100 for 3 x 6 sets.

I've lost 10 Kg strength over the last few weeks. Gone from 155x3x3 in July to not doing 145x3x3 today. I blame it on using the shirt and not getting the reps in. Anyone else, I would advise them to drop back to safe 5s and build it up again, but it's only 3 weeks to the Commonwealths. Just got to do the reps between now and then and hope it comes back... Angry On the plus side, the speed sets were easier than usual...Confused
