Thanks JT Well just back today and 295 new posts so I'm not going to catch up. A quick report on Luxembourg.
My weight was up and down. 105 dead Thursday morning, ate very healthy and moderately Thursday, sweated buckets backstage helping out, then Friday morning I was 105.8! Wtf?? Anyway, no breakfast, no drinks, 5 hours in a warm jacket and I weighed in at 104.9.
Warm up was brilliant. Everything felt light, for once I wasn't sluggish, finished with a 180 single that simply flew like an empty bar, so feeling really confident. I opened 195 and failed. Left the shirt a bit high and took second finger grip to make sure of the touch, but at the expense of the pop. Second lift, took the shirt down half an inch and went to full finger grip and effing smoked it. As good a competition lift as I've even done.
Went 200 for my third but the Finn got 200 with his second and was lighter (everyone was effing lighter!) so I upped it to 202.5. Think I would have got it tbh, but things went awry backstage and I ended up rushing out with 23 seconds left and wraps not tight! apparently I took the bar with 5 seconds left. Nearly got it but didn't. Annoying, because it was so definitely there and would have been the British M2 record standard, but hey, these things happen. On the bright side, 195 was an pb in an international event, my shoulder held out, and I'm ready to rock and roll in Bournemouth.
Good to meet up with the guys again. Highlights... Bill MacFadyen getting M4 best lifter in a shirt that was two sizes too big. Tom Collins lifetime pb and a first international medal aged 65 and lifting 185. And Marco becoming only the second British GBPF 50+ lifter to break the magic 500 lb barrier. Many others too of course.
My weekend was marred when I checked my flight time and found I had inadvertently booked my return flight on 30 November, not 30 October!! Several hours and 230 euros poorer I landed back in Blighty Commonwealths, I'n driving!

Well done on the comp PB mate and it's good that a 202.5 is there for the taking.
I better pull my finger out.

Just to add, 195 got me 5th place - 4th equal if you will, but I was heavier. 202.5 would only have got me 4th - unless it had put pressure on one of the 205s. Oh, and the banquet was pretty good.

Excuses first! Probably shouldn't have trained today. Still sore and tired from the comp and all the travelling, plus played golf this afternoon then had an eat till you're stuffed carvery. Plus I bench late morning/early afternoon not 8 at night.
BUT the new shirt arrived today, there was a new guy wanting to train with us, and another to coach, so off I went to the alternative garage of power.
Bar for 20
40 for 10
70 for 8
90 for 5
110 for 3
130 for 2.
New shirt on
150 for 3 to 6 inches - easy
180 for 1 to 3 inches - horrible
200 - abject fail.
Left it there. There is some good news. Aside from my tiredness the new shirt will be ready for the Commonwealths. If I can get 180 to touch 3 inches, I can sort out a workable opener for mid December. But before that, I rest till noon on Saturday...

Bench, with new SK.
Bar for 20
40 for 10
60 for 8
80 for 5
100 for 3
120 for 2
Shirt on
140 for 5 - pretty high
180 for 2 - 2 board
200 for 1 - 3 board
200 for 1 - 2 board
Felt there wasn't another 200 in me so shirt off
150 for 1
140 for 3
130 for 5
120 for 8
Felt weak raw. I guess maintaining raw strength and improving equipped bench is the eternal conundrum. I have to say that the SK isn't giving me loads over the Rage X. Maybe I was expecting too much, or maybe I'm just still slightly fatigued. Apart from a bit of light speed work, no bench planned now until Thursday.

Strong bench, well done in the comp, guess the record will need to wait for next time.
There was a young lad from down your way talking about you at the gym last night, he is up here studying.

Thanks lads. Davy, that'll be Liam, he's doing marine engineering up there I think.
Bad session today. Not trained since Saturday (but had 2 games of golf so getting cardio!!). Been feeling rough since Monday night, was thinking of giving it a miss but decided that something was better than nothing.
Bench
Bar for 20
60 for 8
80 for 5
100 for 3
SK on. No boards, just as low as I can get it
145 for 3 (should have been 5, felt weak)
165 for 2 (better)
190 for 1 (good rep, about 1 1/2 inches off a touch, strong press back up)
205 - total fail, higher than the 190, no chance of pressing it.
Feeling weak as a kitten, left it there, hoping for better on Sunday. Horrible when you feel like this, but you know its not going to last forever.

Thats the one, he seems very keen.
If that is as bad as your sessions get then its pretty good going

He spent the last two years or more asking when I was coming back, then within ten days of my return he left the island!! Today WAS as bad as it gets. Not even the energy or desire for some light down sets

Ha ha, I will try and help him out a bit. Been helping him with his squats this week. Will leave the benching tips to you
