In some gyms they're probably big numbers...

Others, it'll be run of the mill!

Don't be overly impressed by what you see, just smash the weights yourself and enjoy the numbers going up! Wink

Impressive if natural or on low doses. If mega juicing, it's nothing special.

Depends on the machine, leverages make a massive difference, even just a few inches difference in the position of loading pins.

My local gym has exigo plate loaded stuff and the leverages are appalling. I can press 5 plates a side on the overhead machine nevermind incline!

Yup... Leverage points can be a t**t when you work them out and ruin your ego lol Grin

A few gyms I know have the car deadlift set up; you hear em all bragging how they can lift a car... They s**t it when you tell em it's only around 160-180kg in the hand because of the leverage point and the fact that it's really only a lock out Roll-Eyes Grin

Same with the gym I mainly train at; great viking press, but when you figure out what weights in hand, it's a kick in the nuts! Unhappy

Machines vary massively,so cannot really say if it's impressive. His other lifts are pretty good, but nothing exceptional nowadays.

benching 140 x 8 @ 100kg sans the trenbolognaise sauce is decent if they're proper paused reps.
problem with gym lifts is they could be anything from IPF standard to t+g bounces with no lock out and an 'all you bro' spot.

Plates can be horendously unreliable at commercial gyms also.

One lifter i know was at a commercial gym and weighed a few plates to find they where mostly 1kg over!

ours at ralls where weighed out by david horne for the grip comp there - most of the 25's are 0.4-0.8kg over.

the worst plates are of course... TECHNOGYM. few days after first gpc southerns (in which i benched a tough 182.5kg )
I went to a "techno gym"gym (at continental hotel in hounslow where i was staying) and was banging out comfy reps with 170+ on a s**tty bench with no handout. must be 5% under and ALL of them, don't matter which you use they're equally all s**te.
they just feel so light in your hand when you lift the 20s.

Yup... One gym I train at have some very thick cast 20kg plates... They're 21.4kg each! A nightmare if you don't know...

Some other 20kg plates weigh as 18.9kg...

s**tty if you haven't a clue which plates to use/avoid!
