Did a general warm up with some pressing and deadlifting and then did these: Car Deadlift 170kg: 3 x 10 Farmers Walk 80kg: 3 sets of 30m - don't know times yet but was fairly quick Log Press: 80kg clean and pressed each rep - 8 reps, 7 reps (TBC) and then 85kg, 90kg, 95kg, 100kg, 110kg - stopped there as my last rep was all over the shop. Finally pressed it out. Really weird technique to learn but that's what today was all about really. For a first time showing, pretty happy with how it went. Had a great time. Can't wait for the next session.

Nearly didn't go to the gym tonight either as I was supposed to give someone a lift home from uni. They ended up going into town after lectures so I toddled off to the gym. Ended up having a brilliant session. Some rep PRs and single PRs too. Very happy with my progress. Really getting the hang of box squats too now. They were beltless up to 185kg too. Feeling very strong at the moment. Ended up doing some regular squats too to make sure that my leverages hadn't been skewed with my box squats. Ended up repping 170kg for 3 and a single at 180kg. Felt a little tired after that so didn't push it. I had the main work in so a couple of bits upstairs and then home I travelled. Thanks for looking in.

Who said it's hardcore? Member 3896, 847 posts SQ 265, BP 150, DL 320735.0 kgs @ 128kgs UnEq | Had 6 days with no training. In part this has been down to tiling/decorating duties and in part due to my hand problems (numbness and tingling). It was still hurting today but I wanted to get in a session at least. Ended up doing quite well... Conventional Deadlift: 60kg x 5, 100kg x 5, 140kg x 3, 150kg x 3, 180kg x 3, 200kg x 1, 230kg x 1 Power Cleans: 60kg 2 x 4, 80kg 3 x 2 Front Squats: 80kg 5 x 6 Narrow Lat Pulldowns: 45kg x 12, 55kg 3 x 12 Hand felt ok during training but stings a little now. Certainly no worse than it has been. Diet fixed from today so will see how far that gets me with the problem.

My hand was playing up a bit today so it was mainly hypertrophy style stuff on some machines and LOTS of mobility work. Even did some cardio. The only notable thing was the press and I got a PR on it.

Gritted my teeth to get through it. Ended up with some PRs. I set the rack pins just below the bottom of my knee so it's about 2 inches above the "regular" conventional deadlift position. Ended up finishing them off with a couple of 8s but my hand was toast by the time I walked up to the second set of them so I put on the straps. Everything else was whatever I could get on to because the gym was, for that time of day, rammed. Resetting my programme a little in a week or two anyway and will do some rehab work and drop things down a little before getting ready for another blast.

Diet has been crap for the past 3 days as we have been finishing the house off. Failed 110kg but it was nearly up... 120kg the same. Will nail that next time with some decent sleep and diet being fixed up. I think it's time for a few dynamic sessions in a row now and leave the max efforts for a couple of weeks. Body could do with a slight rest. Injury update: Went to the doctors about my hand and ended up wanting to refer me for a diabetes test (a blood test for the uninformed). What a joke. I told the doc that I have been doing a lot of decorating recently and training for strongman. Said that diabetes could still be a possibility. Wound me up further when he was talking on the phone while asking me what my symptoms were and how it happened. Complete idiot and very disrespectful. I'll be getting it fixed my way I think.

Some rep PRs and a squat PR (again). All was not perfect... I managed to sit down well enough with 220kg but ended up getting stuck at the bottom. Much hilarity ensued when Neil thought he would help me squat it up with his shoulders... ended up nearly tipping over. Had to ditch the thing in the end and ended up smashing one of the plate holders on the rack. Was stuck for about 60 seconds but felt like 6 minutes. Lesson learned... ditch straight away! Not a great day to do anything else as the gym was rammed and I was waiting for Neil to finish his stuff in the power room so went to max out on deadlifts instead... got 240kg off the floor but ended up tearing a callous so it will have to wait for another time. Had at least another 3 - 5 reps in me at 200kg though.

Summary Not a bad session really. Considering my wrist problems I'm pleased to keep going with the pressing really ;despite the injury I have still hit PRs consistently with it. Need to work on my technique a little push pressing but I'll spend the next 3 weeks on that until attempting another PR on the pressing side I think. Going to focus on bringing the assistance up a little and work on some conditioning to carry me into the next phase of my lifting too.

Split my joggers which meant Neil was able to see things that only my wife has seen. I'm not entirely sure that he will ever be the same again. I know that if he starts coming to the sessions wearing cologne and fluttering his eyelashes that I will have had a lasting effect...

My back was aching and my legs didn't want to work. I managed to match my last rack pull session so am comforted somewhat by the performance. In other words, I didn't go backwards despite being ill. I can't be too disappointed. ME Session 23 (13/11/12) Push Press: 20kg x 5, 50kg x 5, 60kg x 3, 75kg x 3, 85kg x 3, 90kg x 3, 95kg x 3, 100kg x 3, 105kg x 2 (rep PR), 110kg - F. 115kg - F x 2 Strict Press: 60kg 5 x 8 (PR) Pec Dec: 4 x 12 Standing DB Press: 13.5kg x 12, 16kg 4 x 12 superset with Lat Pulldown 45kg 4 x 12 Seated Row: 12 reps at 50/70/90kg and then 3 x 12 at 110kg Bit of a better session but still had the pressure in my head. I got a rep PR but at the expense of tweaking my shoulder. So not sure why I bothered going for the other lifts. I did nearly lock out the 115kg attempts but my left shoulder just wouldn't lock out. Strange but, again, I can't be too unhappy as I didn't go backwards. I AM taking a rest from Max Effort push pressing for the next 2 to 3 weeks.

Squats felt hard but I did set the plates lower on the box so I went an inch or two lower than normal. Hips were really stretched out. I haven't felt like this after a session for weeks. Really went balls to wall with it. Hardly any rest between sets/exercises either. It was just bam, bam, bam...couple of PRs to boot which is always nice!
