I currently have a 130 max log and just wondered what routines people follow to improve this lift?

I currently just work up in doubles to around 110 and then do singles up to 130 when im attempting a max. For all other pressing I follow 531 and wondered whether this would work for log press? Also, when you rep the log, is every rep FTOH or would you just clean it the once and then rep from your shoulders?

Thanks

5/3/1 would work fine for log press. If a comp has reps in or I haven't got a conp coming up then I clean each rep on log, if it's a max log then I'll clean once and press from the chest. Assuming that your push press technique is fairly nailed down I have found that strict log working from higher reps (10+) down to triples and doubles over 6-8 weeks then adding in push press for around 3 weeks worked really well.

I used to do

5x4 @ 80%
5x3 @ 85%
5x2 @ 90%
7x1 @ 95%
Then max

Used to just repeat that most of the time
