It is my delight and pleasure to announce the 3rd Annual CHASE CHARITY CHALLENGE to take place in Guildford, Surrey in May/June of this year.

This year will see a return to the NOVICE and INTERMEDIATE classes after popular demand.

As always all proceeds to the CHASE Childrens Hospice (www.chasecare.org.uk) and, as always, many of the life limited children and their families will be present at the event.

And, as always, there will be no charge to the competitors but a minimum sponsorship will be mandatory - PLEASE NOTE THAT SPONSORSHIP MONEY WILL NEED TO BE HANDED IN ON THE MORNING OF THE COMPETITION and failure to provide the sponsorship money will result in you being unable to compete.

Places will be limited to 8 competitors in each class.

Rules are

Novices – May not have placed in the top 3 in any weightlifting/strongman/powerlifting competition previously at Novice or higher level. Also you will not be allowed to take the piss or be acting as a glory hunter – If you are clearly at a higher level you will be pushed up into the intermediates at the discretion of the officials.

Intermediates – May not have come in the top 3 in any weightlifting/strongman/powerlifting competition previously at Intermediate (or higher) level. Also you wont be allowed to take the piss or be acting as a glory hunter – If you are clearly at a higher level you will not be allowed to compete as an intermediate – this will be monitored at the discretion of the officials

Thanks - very happy to put names down now.

If you would like to get on the list please PM me with your name and a way I can contact you closer to the time (a phone number and regularly checked email) I will also need a postal address that I can send out the info pack, sponsorship form and posters to.

Places will be reserved on a first-come-first-served bssis, but no places will be confirmed until people can verify that they have aquired the minimum sponsorship (which is payable to the Charity on the day).

Its worth all the effort!!!

Hi John,

Last year we did £100 minimum sponsorship - I imagine we will do the same again this year (though we are happy to take more LOL).

However, it will be a while before I have met with the council and the charity so I cant give any definate date/time details until then.

Look forward to having you on board,

as with everyone, please PM me with contact details as specified above...!

EVENTS TO FOLLOW IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS...

Hello,

I did reach second place in under 110kg raw powerlifting comp but charity event. Happy to compete wherever that would leave me and if not accpeted then no probs.

I have done 1 charity strongman novice comp also.

Cheers

Would love to compete in this but I'm not a novice anymore and something tells me if the likes of JFL are in the intermediates it will be too heavy for me!

When the date is announced if I am free I will be happy to load or help in any other way I can.

Thanks guys - The final dates are dependent on the local council but as soon as I know, you will know

The events/weights will be on in the next few days.

Have a look at the weights when I post them and see what you think....

Thanks for the massive support so far - We already have lots of interest and competitors coming forward. I am hoping to meet up with Rob Frampton this week to finalise the events and weights - It will be the best Chase Charity Challenge yet!!!

Competitors so far:

NOVICES

Matt Swift (N)
Matt Lamport (N)
Mark Kilby (N) – via Matt Swift
Clive Graffham (N)
Mark Webb (N) - via Matt Swift
Rich Porter (N)
Keiron Hewkin (N)
Alasdair Webb (N)
Martin Marshall (N)

Andy Venables (I)

We have had a few OPENS showing interest - if there are many more OPENs (please PM me) then we might consider including an open class!!

Events details on in the next week

PLEASE REMEMBER - it is a fundraising competition - the minimum sponsorship is £100 per competitor payable on the day of the comp. Failure to make the minimum sponsorship will mean you cant compete.

www.chasecare.org.uk

Also, and as always, it is a family day with food and music and stuff for the kids (including some kids strongman events!!) as well as some good coverage from the local press and radio!!

(we still need more volunteers, judges, loaders, timekeepers, scorers etc)

Colin- I have had a look at your log and current lifts - You have not competed in a strongman comp before so you would be ok to join the novices if you would like. But have a look at the events when I post them and see which class you would prefer.

Pompey, I would be grateful for any help on the day but dont discard the idea of competing until you have had a look at the events!! JFL contacted me originally about an OPEN place (we are not having an OPENS this year at the moment) so he may or may not be appropriate for INTERMEDIATES - I will be running through peoples logs and previous comp placements to ensure who is appropriate - Rob Frampton will be helping me with this and, as one of the most experiences strongmen in the country and as the man running the day, his decision will be final!!

We will make sure that it is a good and fair comp. If anyone is clearly competing below where they should be, we reserve the right to move them up, or move them out...! Judges discretion.

Mate I'd love to compete but will only do if I stand a chance of not looking like a t**t on the day, but I'll be there in some capacity

Cheers Matt,

I have done one charity strongman comp last year (chippenhams strongest man) hence me asking but yes my lifts certainly wouldn't put me in glory hunter catergory by any stretch LOL! Please put me down for novice if that still counts but will happily do intermediates if required as it's all for charityGrin
