I tried board pressing for the first time this morning.I was doing it on a 4 board at 100kg which id never do without a board.I still don't really see the point of board pressing. If you can't use a board in competiton why use it training?

It's a great tool to build lockout strength. Most unequipped lifters don't need the top end work, but a one or two board is still good assistance work. Maybe higher boards with a closer grip for more specific tri work.

What Tony said, same principle as doing deadlift lockouts.

Tony is a big advocate of partial lifts to build strength.

Is 85 an accurate 1RM? or is that old?

If it is, then I wouldn't mess about with 4 board at the moment. That's pretty specialist tricep work. If you're going to use boards, stick with 1 and 2 boards for now but also do plenty of work to the chest.
