Cheers not appendix but a few similar sized procedures. it's normal to feel s**te for week or so after. dump issue i assume is due to opiates. took me 3-4 days after my last hernia op. given fentanyl+morphine initially post op, then moved on to DF118 (dihydrocodeine)... which i think is worse for slowing bowel movements down than stronger ones. ask for a bulking* agent like movicol, that worked well for me when the DF118 caused constipation. *bulking as in increasing liquified bowel mass by retaining water

nothing to hide, please follow my life on webcam Member 255, 3732 posts | It took me a couple of months to recover. Did you have "keyhole" surgery? I unfortunately had to have old fashioned surgery which I suspect takes longer to heal.

Gonna try the ginger tea recommended above, cheers lads.

Those allowed me to actually sleep at night and that made all the difference. I had my appendix out late December and got in decent enough shape to compete late Feb (far from my strongest though).

![]() Still got a little bit of strength Member 400, 22361 posts | Had mine out 2 days ago. All very sudden and very nasty. 2 interesting facts - I take a size XL SHORT in anti-embolism stockings and apparently I have a high pain threshold (and that's without a background of fishing/angling ![]() ![]() What was your recovery like Aaron? I'm of a wise age and will be cautious. Won't be touching any big/heavy movements for several weeks. I'm thinking some upper body isolation work after maybe 4 weeks? Maybe the AMH press ![]() My abdomen is currently tender/bloated and I have reduced mobility.

we ride at dawn Member 4363, 1442 posts SQ 310, BP 250, DL 320880.0 kgs @ 104kgs UnEq | Hi Wayne. I got sepsis with mine so had daily lumbar punctures for 10 days or so. But I benched the day I got home but had to put feet up to stop me ripping stitches. I started squatting exactly 14 days after it went pop. I set myself the rule of absolutely, categorically no straining. All lifts had to be fluid without been sudden. A month after I could pretty much go all out. Failed a 240 squat due to confidence, but within 2 months I was back to the best I'd been or there abouts. 12 month later I'm going to obliterate my last comp pb. The gas trapped near my bladder was the worst pain for me. The first s**t I went for, I think I rang the emergency buzzer in the toilet and a nurse rocked up... I needed morale support to poo it was that bad. The wounds though fix very quick. Surface is slower than internal. If you can tug your skin and it not open up, then you can trust internals are good to go.

Yeah, but I have just been diagnosed with Crohns but runs in family anyway. 'runs' in family; no pun intended. But I don't know if this is progression or if it is since having it out, but I do not tolerate fibre at all. Have to get undressed for a s**t at work sometimes I'm hanging that bed. Sweating and clinging off the toilet roll holder, maybe twice a week... yay. Anyways... I recommend getting some probiotics (appendix stores these as a digestive system 'reboot' after puking etc, so taking them as a supplement keeps the gut flora on point). Also, I recommend (for everyone, not just appendix brethren) digestive enzymes. You can drastically uptake more macro/micro nutrients when supplementing these. Instead of eating more for gains, just get more out of what you are eating already. Free gains (well, a few quid for the enzymes).
