Time to get back on the horse after the highs and lows of competition.

Squats

Still had my suit in my bag from the comp so decided to put it on.

5x60kg
3x100kg
1x140kg
1x180kg straps down
2x220kg straps up
5x180kg straps down

Benchpress

Aborted due to severe elbow pain.

The plan for the next few months is to keep to 5s adding a biscuit a week until I stall out, then threes, then doubles. I have decided to wear my suit every session with the straps down, in effect as a pair of briefs. Should give me a bit if confidence to train a little heavier than lifting raw.

LOL, I uploaded it the other day but decided to sit on it until I figured out what it could be used for.

Competition write up.

After a disturbrd night of sleep with Bob the dog at Boars house on Friday night I was hardly what you'd call up for it at 4.00am Saturday morning. Drove down to pick Paul up then on to Windsor.

Weighed in at 106.9 iirc which was about bang on the money with Jonnys weight. Went to a cafe for a morning snack but I don't know if it was nerves or the fact I didn't get much sleep but I just couldn't face any food.

We started warming up about 11.30ish the bang straight into the action.

Squat 1 240kg Pass
Felt pretty heavy and actually equalled my current PB but I knew Jonny was going to be strong so had to try and keep pace.

Squat 2 250kg Pass PB
Felt very heavy at the mid point of the squat and almost stalled out. Any dream of getting 260 ended there. After a brief discussion with Joe 255 was to be the third.

Squat 3 255kg Fail
Got down and managed a few inches out of the hole and that was it. I then stood and watched Boar anhialte 262.5kg.

12.5kg down on the big man and I was feeling pretty s**tty.

Benchpress

Bench 1 175kg Pass
Felt comfortable so 182.5 was next.

Bench 2 182.5kg Pass
Felt good too, Boar was hitting 185 next so decided on 187.5kg to drag back a few KGs.

Bench 3 187.5kg Fail
In fairness I think in the gym it would have gone but the ref called a halt to it a few inches from lockout.

Things are starting to go from bad to worse not only is a 700kg total now looking ropey but I'm 15kg down on the big man and hes on fire.

Deadlifts

deadlift 1 250kg Fail
I'm officially a f**king idiot, stroll out rip it off the floor and put it straight down without getting the command. After frantic discussions with Joe and Andy about what next I'm stuck on taking on 267.5kg for a 700 total which would then allow me to have a crack at 600lbs for a third. The problem is that if I miss 267.5 I wouldn't total at all.

deadlift 2 267.5kg pass PB
Pep talk ahoy from Andy and bang, could have repped the sucker. This set up my last lift perfectly, all square with Boar and with a 700 total secure.

Dealift 3 272.5kg Pass PB
Felt heavy but smooth, once it got past my knees it was never going to stop. Que a bit of shouting and cuddling.

705kg total and smiles all round.

Can't say enough kind words about Pete, Andy, Rob and Joe who all travelled a long way to show their support and help out on the day.

Boar and Paul put on startling performances busting PBs all over the place. It was a great day but I aint half glad its over.

Always be conservative in picking your attempts , especially your first one.

LMAO, did you think of me when you read this?

Nice lifting mate. If I could offer a snippet of advice, maybe trying driving your hips down at the start of the lift and then start pulling. I think its called the stretch reflex or something. You seem to be getting your hips down then pulling from a static position if that makes any sense.
