UKs strongest man 2021!

Event 1: 450kg yoke 20m
didn’t have a yoke to warm up with so did a few quarter lunges with 200kg, a few unracks and marches with 310kg then out we went. it actually didn’t feel that heavy on my back but I got a slow start and tried to go too fast to catch up and kept going down, panicked really. Finished 3rd from bottom. managed to beat Gav bilton by 1 second.

Event 2: dumbbell medley 70,80,90,100,110
warm ups felt great, I honestly thought I would put up all of them so I didn’t rush. 70,80,90 went up easy. I got to the 100 and struggled to clean it, the dumbbell was so much bigger than the one I’d trained with, I couldn’t get the thing between my legs to generate the power for the clean. I eventually got it to my shoulder but ran out of time. I should of just flew through the first 3. not sure where I placed

Event 3: car hold
strapped my left hand on brilliant, rushed my right alittle which ended up costing me. Held on for 65 secs, when right hand came loose. 3rd place, 2nd place went down 1 sec after me.

I thought I might have done enough to pip Gav to not be in the eliminator, but I didn’t with the lads already qualified putting the car down early, (fair play to them) but I didn’t.

Event 4: stones 115 - 165
I was told I had 10mins before we started, I put my sleeves on tight as f**k and tackyd up, 20mins later we was still waiting and I couldn’t feel my hands, it was hot and the tacky had melted of my sleeve onto the floor. I went out did 2 stones and that was that.

Out of first day.

In all honesty for the effort I’d been putting into strongman and the group I had I was expecting to go out on the first day but even so I’m better than what I showed. The top 4 were all from my group, and if I’d of done the same performance in the other group I’d of been through.....but I wasn’t in that group so it doesn’t matter for a wank!

I had a great time though, great experience. 3900 spectators there on the first day. had a great laugh and spent some great time with the mrs.

Dang.
What kind of tutu can you wear for body support?
Support belt and lifting belt over the top.
Yoke in a squat suit.

think I can get away with a squat suit under my clothes? I maybe willing to take the chance 😂

That's an utterly huge weight for comp! Fingers crossed for you on it.

It is huge weight but I suspect some of the others will make it look not so huge. But I’m there to do my best and that I shall!

Thanks!

Wiegieboard said:420! Not only is it the Snoop Dog number but you run with it!

Utterly outstanding training and number.

Unfortunately for me though comp weight is 440kg and I have to take it another 14m haha it’ll be alright on the night? I hope.

jt said:Do you think (I DO) it is worth doing Left arm reps with a manageable weight to give balance?

I’ve been doing dumbbell twice a week, lighter session I do both arms and heavier just the right. I’ve only got a few weeks til comp and I’ll do them all right arm on the day so just concentrating on that. if I had more time I’d probably switch between arms.

A) DB windmills
30x5
40x5
50x5 - PB ?

B) DB clean (each rep) and press - right arm only
80 3x4
90x4

C1) strict viking press
70x10
80x10
90x10
100x10

C2) half Powell raise
9 3x10

D) barbell hold no thumbs
90 x 30 secs
100 x 41 secs

Dumbbell feeling more fluent, just need to get nearer 100kg for a few reps then I think 110 will be fine on the day.
