The commentators suggested it was brought in for religious reasons (they never said when) in order to make the sport more inclusive, which sounds very much like a reasonable reason. It does however make judging lockouts slightly more difficult so it was suggested that many wore it for that reason alone. As a former referee myself (though not in weightlifting) anything that doesn't have a clear and obvious reason is usually nefarious | ||

Something different for a change, just a little tinkering 20 x 5 20 x 5 20 x 5 20 x 5 20 x 5 20 x 5 60 x 5 80 x 5 95 x 5 110 x 5 120 x 4 130 x 3 140 x 2 150 x 1 155 x 5 140 x 3 April depth-nazied for me and 1,2 and 4 were fine, 3 was borderline but 5 was the best. similarly with the 140 drop down, the last was the best. I only did three as the 155 took more out of me than I imagined. The fact that the last was best on both sets indicates confidence is lacking rather than strength. It would obviously be better if I were not lacking either but if I have to lack one I prefer it this way round. Very warm tonight and home in time to watch the super-heavies in Birmingham. I have been introduced to two phenomenon this evening - the sumo clean and the power jerk. The former is ridiculous and the user thereof bombed but the latter looker a rather splendid thing, so much so I can't understand why I have not seen it before. I will consult with the weightlifters of Friday and they will doubtless advise me. | ||
