Didnt really feel like deadlifting today so i decided to squat again, dont know if it was a good idea or not but it went quite well anyway, and i did the assistance exercises i usually do for deadlifting afterwards. Stupidly long session (i was in the gym for about 3 hours) but i feel quite good after it. Failed the squat with wraps on due to deapth, at least 2" away. Felt really fast out of the bottom so it shouldnt be much of a problem getting depath next time i try it. Technique coming on even more, quite happy with it now.

Having big hands helps alot i think, my mate at uni could beat me on it everytime, but in the gym his grip was terrible.
im no fanatic on grippers, get them out every now and then. but whats everyones favourite method for grippers ? i heard it works better to close them fully and then hold for time, this is what i do, instead of repping.

I have freak hands, grip has never been a problem for me in the gym, can hold on to way more than i can deadlift, pinch grip 2 15's easilly without practicing. Cant remember what i got on rolling thunder last time but i am gonna try it again soon.

BigKen said:Toby, there is no point in you using the axle for c&p. To clean an axle is far harder than a barbell and the grip aspect will restrict you improving your technique.

Cheers for the advice, will use a normal bar next week.

powerball is all good fun bollock to do with grip strength but good to laugh at spasm hands

aye, allthough over 15000 its a battle keeping the damn thing in your hand, so i guess it helps your grip at least a bit. 90% of it is technique to getting the damn thing going properly and keeping it from clicking.

Light Bench Day

Bench Press
1 x 10 40kg
1 x 10 50kg
1 x 8 60kg
3 x 8 67.5kg

Axle Clean And Press
1 x 3 35kg
1 x 1 45kg
1 x 1 55kg
1 x 1 65kg
1 x 1 75kg (PB)
1 x F 85kg

Rope Tricep Pushdowns
3 x 10 32.5kg

Tate Press
2 x 15 18kg

This was my first time doing clean and press, should increase by quite a bit once i get the technique down, i am still struggling a bit with it. My hands where way too close together and so it was really unstable, but that is easilly corrected. I hope to get at least 90kg up by christmas.

My technique was perfect on the 115kg today, it flew up and was easilly to deapth. the 125kg was a bit worse but when i put the belt on i just couldnt focus properly on what i was doing and kept looking down...

Wierd session today, new PB beltless squat and when i put my belt on for 3x3 at 125kg it all went wrong... Failed deapth on all but 1 125 with belt, i wasnt feeling my best going in to the gym today so i guess that is why. Did some heavy walkouts afterwards to try and get used to the weights on my back, felt quite good. Wasnt confident enough to walk out the 200kg, held it over the hooks in the power cage for 10 seconds.

Squats
1 x 5 70kg
1 x 3 90kg
1 x 2 105kg
1 x 1 115kg

Deadlift Day

Deadlifts
1 x 10 70kg
1 x 5 120kg
1 x 3 150kg
1 x 1 180kg (belt)
1 x 1 200kg (belt)

6" Box Deadlifts
1 x 3 160kg
1 x 2 180kg
1 x 1 200kg

Hyperextensions
1 x 10 BW
1 x 10 BW + 25kg

Reverse Grip Pulldowns
2 x 10 90kg

Quite happy with the session today, was planning to do 3 singles at 200kg off 6" box but as i was using plates the bar was rolling off all the time and i got pissed off and stopped. Doubt i would have managed more than 2 anyway as my lower back feels quite bad. Happy with the 200kg from the floor, was a slow start but went through my usual sticking point very quickly.

BigKen said:We've got a rack like that in the uni gym, ours has a bench on it too. Really handy racks if you're training with guys not all the same height. Can you adjust yours in and out to vary for grip widths?

Yeah, its allmost identical to the ER rack we use, you could even modify it slightly to allow it to be used for benching too

http://er-racks.com/images/er-rack_02.jpg

and its got a bit at the back where a bench just bolts on with wing nuts, and the lower rack so you can get it to the right height.

Wiegieboard said:Did you work your new bench technique today? I'm sure you'll get a new pb soon enough!

I was a bit sore from monday but it felt easy enough, was benching the same as i was on saturday. I wont be going for a new PB before the 9th now, as there are only 3 weeks left to train.
