Hi Guys

Im competing in the qulaifier for Scotlands Strongest Man in Feb and one of the events is a 280kg deadlift for reps.

At the moment Im having problems getting down to the bar, what is the best way to break it in, making it possible for me to get the max out of the suit?

Cheers Guys
Ken

I had the same suit and never 'broke' it as such, just worked the best way to keep a nice position while forcing myself down to the bar or getting to the bar then getting a good position WHILST wondering if your gonna pass out !!

tony had a good trick of pulling it down at the front so it doesnt hinder at the top where the suit is trying to force the shoulders forward, but might not be as big a problem in strongman as form isnt taken into account - its the BIG MOFO weights

plenty of time in the suit just to get used to it

You don't want to break it in. It should never be easy to get to the bar. If it was then you might as well not wear it.

well its tricky as the tightness of the suit doesnt want you to get that position, but even in a suit i needed a perfect start point (some dont however, tonys form looked a bit off but he is able to pull much more)

what i did was struggle down to the bar and anchor my hands , have a quick 'moment' then whip myself into what i deemed my perfect start position and rip that badboy off the floor !

230 x 2 / 240 / 250
(i did ditch the suit as my lockout suffered too much)

if you watch tonys 275 he takes longer to get to the bar and his tight suit nearly makes it impossible !!
but thats good !!

i think what im goin to try is:

reach down and grasp the bar with a rounded back; set feet; dip hips and drive [may do two dips then drive on the thrid]
