None of the conflicts you mention are nearly comparable to the death toll of WW1, Africans have been starving since biblical times, and always will be, not sure about the death tolls of swine flu or ebola, but I'm sure they're not in the 10's of millions. Given a choice between living now, and having to put up with TV, porn and the internet, and 100 years ago I'll stay put..
