Deads/ back

Build up- felt ok, few niggles nothing bad though,

Few mins cross trainer to warm up

Deads with just bar as physio request.
Bar x 15, 15.
40k x 10

Left side of back really tightened and went painful. Did stretches in between each one which helped nicely.

t-bar row- 30k x 8, 40k x 8, 55k x 6
pull up assistance- 75k assistance x 8, 67.5k assistance x 4 (though give this ago as change to pull downs, felt harder than I thought)
rev grip narrow pulldown- 65k x 8, 80k x 8, 95k x 6 iirc (left book at home)
wide grip pulldown- 57.5k x 8, 72.5k x 8, 87.5k x 6 I think.
Gunz.

10mins interval style on cross trainer.

Back felt fine after. And feels ok so far today

21/1

pressing day

build up- felt ok, back very painful today from sitting. had a few light headed moments/ tired moments again not had this week.
had a few painkillers during day to ease back, and wonder if possibly led to a poor overhead day.

gym-

back strech/ crack and other streches

push press from rack- bar to warm,
50k x 5,5
60k x 3
65k x 3
70k x 3
75k x f, rest, f
very poor, the aim was to double or triple the 75k. last week it flew up and had the plan for cracking the 80k. was quite pissed off it didn go up. though all weights felt heavy, i was also double dipping on some not just push pressing so should have seen signs.

strict standing press- 30k x 8, 40k x 6, 40k x 3 - felt crap again

d/bell incline bench- 20k x 8, 22.5k x 8, 25k x 5

d/bell shrug- 30k x 8, 37.5k x 8, 45k x 8 didn want to go much more due to lifting them and back. but wanted somat to test the grip abit. the 45k was easy though.

core/ back rehab x 2

rower- 5mins- 1010m. shoulders on fire. really need to try build up this time.

back felt great all night, unhappy with session as a general. back is sore again today. may try find somewhere i can do some streches and cracks in work.

Well yesterday I got some bad chicken from tesco, reduced price is not good. just thought hmm protein and cheap and im skint. Reduced section aint good for meat I reckon lol. Well sat in the car park for a bit thinking I was going to throw. Got parking ticket and sat a bit longer.(bee s**tting like a bas***d all day and felt awful) Thought f**k it I need to train. Walked in got changed (new spiffing pants) walked into gym and sucked it up. Soon as first squat went up I felt fine. Then felt fine all night no throwing or s**tting so was good hahaha. Due to this not feeling good thought I wouldn’t do to much in the session and just see how I felt.
Back was fine training, felt great. However it’s giving me some grief now. I used belt on heavier squats due to saving back. Squats apart from last one felt great and nice and low.

So

Squat

Bar x 8
60k x 5,5
80k x 3
100k x 3 (used belt from here onwards)
110k x 3
120k x 2 second one didn’t get any where near low enough. The 100 and 110 felt really good.
May short term plan is now to triple the 120 by mid feb and post a PB for a single end of feb.

Fronties

40k x 8
50k x 6
60k x 5

Core/ back rehab routine x 2
Then had a mate come round said I look fatter. Fair enough.

Cardio- rower, bit of interval, 5mins 1000m

Going to aim to build this to 10mins interval in next couple weeks. Aim is to do this after my lifting, maybe twice, and then have a cardio on separate day as well.

All in all not a bad session tbh. Back is not good atm how ever which is really annoying as during training it was pain free. Anyway, no reduced price chicken today. So should be good. core and back rehab tonight again. And pressing tomorrow.

didn achieve much over weekend. ended up taking standard suspension thats in a box out of skyline to sit in it and believe i had had the money to fix it, so made some engine noise, some turbos spooling etc. and back went againwhen moving suspension. gutted.
so no lifting or cardio. so went driving to feel better int he focus and found a new road. all good.

» Zerchers and Walkouts (Go to post)16-01-2009 @ 16:35
heard and read alot abotu these recently.

are they good for strongman training when in the gym. while im off from doing events wondering if worth giving these a go to boost my strength up a bit.

the walkouts, are they basically lifting the weight and walking of the rack? like holding the yoke weight.

cheers

15/1

felt awake and good all day. which makes a change at work.

start of gym work was deadlift. now after matt was saying, bar x 15, 2 sets. back felt fine. infact legs felt really achey and sore. back felt ok, little stiff but was fine.

t-bar row - 30k x 8, 40k x 8, 50k x 8
narrow rev grip pulldown - 57.5k x 8, 72.5k x 87,5k x 8
wide grip pulldown - 57.5k x 8, 65k x 8, 80k x 8
gunz curl - 25k x 8, 30k x 8

rower 5 mins 30 sec, 1018m
legs just f**ked. there really shot. maybe just being back in training but not normally like this. ah well rest tomorow, no long walk at lunch so see how they are by weekend.

roughly atm (dont knwo name of them all)

bridge plank
1 leg raised 1 oppersite arm raised. both sides.
on side with arm locked towards floor and arm in air. body is in air. both sides.
12 sit ups on gym ball, concentrating on keep tight and not slouching which i tend to do. 12 side crunches on gym ball (found very good for balance, first few eeks was nearly falling off all time haha) obv both sides
12 hypers on gym ball
back strech/ crack twist thingy
hamstring strech, on back leg in air and leg bent towards me.

tends to take about 7mins to get through that. 3 lots of them. once i built up a base im going to try some other stuff aswell. but i have found even just doing that is really helping me. back has been getting better and always feel good afterwards. mentally and physically.

14/1

overhead day

push press from rack-
bar
50k x 5, 5
60k x 3
65k x 3
70k x 3
75k x 1 - didn feel to bad. went up quick little step forward for balance but good.
80k x f,f

think ill go for some doubles and triples on 75k to blast an 80k soon. as the 8ok had no drive at the top.

strict standing press
30k x 8
40k x 8
45k x 2,2,1 not exactly what i had in mind, aimed for 8 reps haha.

d/bell incline bench
15k x 8
20k x 8
22.5k x 8

condition routine x 3

felt tired but really good after.
gutted i didn get 80k as felt so good on the build up. a main thing is i dont seem to have the aggression i had. which think ill have to sort out for when trying to get them pb's.

back tomorow. and deadlift with just car so see how it goes.
