Thanks for the work.

Interesting to see. Interesting to see that the 285 looked harder than it felt!

Nice to meet you and put a (familiar) face on a name on the forum Grin

Cheers. I've been working at the technique, but there is still a long way to go with my overhead, especially on more awkward events.

Saturday 23rd January

Adlington push and pull

Arrived 10.45 feeling a little rushed and nervous.

Overhead (p/clean and jerk)
Warmed up to 110kg. Went for lower opener to calm nerves.

115kg*1
120kg*1 = PB
125kg*1 = PB

Went far better than I had hoped. All lifts powercleaned successfully so didn't have to bring out the continentals (thank gooodness). Really pleased with this.

Deadlift

250kg*1
270kg*1
285kg*1 = PB

Warmed up to 240 inadvertently (didn't realise there were some 25s on the bar). 250 settled the nerves, 270 was ok. Considered 290 but figured 285 a safer bet (and still a PB). Don't want any injuries at this point in the season for the sake of a few KG.

A great day. The venue was just about the right size and the equipment was spot on. Being able to use bars, weights and platforms like that really is a pleasure when you've been training at my gym. The organisation was also spot on. A good day.

Cheers mate. The whole atmosphere and set-up was perfect which really helped.

Do you know if anyone caught them on camera? Would love to see any footage or pictures.

Looking strong mate.

Those power cleans were very impressive - brutal, even. The deadlift was also very quick off the floor.

Best of luck with your training.

Good lifting today Joni.

As Ben said, lifting next to guys doing 400lbs+ c&j can be daunting. But a PB is a PB, and there is a whole season ahead. And a season after that, and so on. Plenty of time to keep getting stronger.

At least, that's how I rationalise it.

Fantastic day. Well run and a well set-up venue and atmosphere.

Thanks again to all involved in running the event.

Oh, and if anyone has any pictures/footage of my lifts I would more than appreciate seeing them.

Any comps coming up?

I'm doing the push/pull next week, though getting there will be interesting (see post above about my car...). My buildup hasn't quite worked as planned but would still like to put in a reasonable performance.

After that I want to do at least a couple of strongman comps this year. One will be Northwich, other than that I really don't know yet.
