I suspect that those who had the alternate word either did it very early (before it was changed) or already had the tab open. I always kept a tab open with it in the days before the NYT bought it, and shortly afterwards got a word (Agora) that most didn't, as the NYT killed it for being too obscure, but I still had the old code. You will get American spellings (only), though, it's an American game.

Three also. But you'd have been much less happy with the originally scheduled word, I suspect. http://news.sky.com/story/amp/wordle-two-different-words-in-to...

A nice quick three, but I got a lot of information from my two standard openers.

As well as table tennis in real life, I'm also playing in VR on a Quest 2. I signed up for a league in the beta version of the game, which uses the new Meta avatars. If you're very, very bored, you may enjoy this first league match, against a friend of mine. linky

Perfectly reasonable word in American. I also got it in three, but my standard opening two guesses got me the identities of all five letters and the position of the second, from where it was pretty straightforward...

I find I only play if somebody mentions that today's word was interesting, now. If you want more strategic variations I recommend http://www.quordle.com/ and especially http://fubargames.se/squardle/
