I'd quite like to help you with that goal by providing one person fewer to pass... though not enough so to do anything about it, natch.

To double my lowest adult bodyweight, I'd need to get to about 28-29 stone (about 180-185kg). I do not wish this to happen.

Olly, how do you split up your lat work - is there a plan or do you do as you feel?

When I get back to regular training after this month, I think there is going to be a lot more lat work - every session. I used to be stronger pulling than pushing, and that's certainly not true now.

Things I watch:

News.

Basketball, US football, baseball (not now the season is over), rugby, cricket.

Torchwood.

QI, HIGNFY.

Great sitcoms on DVD: Black Books, Spaced, Green Wing.

Best TV ever (imo) on DVD: Firefly.

Other than sport I watch very little; I certainly spend less time watching non-news-or-sport TV than I spend at the cinema in a typical week.

The worst of it is I've got my one big singing gig of the year on Saturday and at the moment I barely have any voice at all.

Am much better today, though - even played some full-court basketball (badly, for the most part). I am filled with hope that I may be ok by the weekend.

I *may* train Wednesday, if I continue to improve; the next session after that is likely to be Wednesday week. Disrupted month, etc.

I'm up for it if I've stopped being f**kING ANNOYINGLY ILL by then.

Tuesday 31/10

Right knee has been feeling stiff, balky, and generally dodgy since the end of last week. I suspect I somehow twisted it - probably in my sleep. I've done that before. So, let's try to squat, concentrating on form and a nice wide stance, and see what happens.

Squat 20x5, 60x5, 80x3, 100x3, 115x2.

So far, *great* - I'm aware of the knee but everything feels solid and easy, and apparently I'm "borderline" for depth, according to both Jo and Olly independently - which I'm happy with, since it's lower than of late. I think Olly's probably the tightest depth judge of any of us, so if he says it's close it really is close.

130x1 - appalling, completely fell apart, felt awful, heavy, crap.

100x5, 1. Was going to be 10x2, but the knee started hurting on the first set. When I tried for five more, it told me to f**k off. So I did.

No shoulder work, I'm still Dr Doms from Sunday. Stretching, home.

Started well, finished badly. On the upside, we met a very big (makes me look little), strong, Canadian guy. More strong guys = good thing.

Yeah, given the conditions any PB was pretty good going.

I also think the new routine looks interesting - I am increasingly thinking about trying something similarish (but on a three day split), probably starting after christmas.

Jonny - if you want to see the assassin coming, you have to subscribe to my *other* other site.

Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week.

Well, you would, you set it and took it Happy.

As I suspected, today I have the DOMS of two men in my pecs, delts and tris (though interestingly none at all in my bis - possibly it will arrive tomorrow).

For fitting-in-with-my-life reasons, I shall be attempting to squat tomorrow rather than Wednesday, and possibly doing overheads if I'm not in too much pain. Hope to arrive about 6, but we'll see. My knees are feeling very tight today, so tomorrow could be interesting.

After much whinging, it's time to start simulcasting the journal here. Since I've just had a long break, this even seems a sensible point to start.

Sunday 29/10

Haven't benched for three weeks, which is probably some sort of record for the last few years.

Pulldowns 70x15

Bench 20x8, 60x5, 80x3, 100x1, 110x1, 120x3 (all paused), 100x10, 9.5 (couldn't quite lock out the last one on the right side). Form was nice and solid here.

Incline DB Press 35.7x9,7. Ran out of steam rather.

EZ Curls 22.5x10 (on a straight bar), 45x10x2.

DB Preachers 17.5x10x2.

And a bit of stretching. Very pleasing benching (I've only tripled 120 once before, a while ago), so happy.

I'm not dying or anything, but I'm definitely not right. Hoping for Sunday.

Not training tomorrow - I have finally learned that when I train when feeling sick, I really do get sick.

Holy s**t. Great pulling in any condition, let alone your current emaciated state Happy. f**king good chinning, too.
