I love 30 reps sometimes 50! I'm sure your hit it at your comp ....I'd imagine the best tips for lockout are getting stronger on 15inch pulls , 18inch pulls and stiff leg deads ,I'm messing around with powercleans instead of Deadlifts ATM feel it benefits speed from the floor

Carlin, I'm far too hungover to be imagining reps of 50! Do you feel any benefit of going so high, or are you just a bit mental? lol

I've been wanting to add powercleans for some time now, but I'm just worried about the technique. I can't wait to start training with Ray Williams, to finally sort that issue out.

After some light reading, and recommendations from MyProtein forum users, I've decided to try out carb back-loading, and fasted training(courtesy of 'Strong Like Wood' at MP forums). One of the benefits of fasted training, is that you consume your pre-workout drink on an empty stomach. Now, I was a little skeptical of the difference it would make - but not any more!

I have never been so ready to train in my life - nothing was getting in my way today.

Bench

2x5x60
2x5x100
3x120 paused - very strong
135 paused - quick quick
142.5 paused
147.5 paused - easy! I failed a 'touch and go' 145 last week!
152.5 paused - easy!!! Big paused PB! Over the moon!
10x120 - +2 rep PB!
8x125 - +2 re PB!!
3x140

Warm up squats, as my hamstring needed some stretching

2x180 - deep and fast.

Back-loading carbs + fasted pre-workout drink = insane drive and determination! I will definitely be sticking to this!

BOOOOM!

Decided to potter about with squat form, today. The biggest change was allowing my knees to track forward more.

Squats

2x5x60
3x100
140
180
220 - really nice. Felt my quads play their part, for a change.
230 - Felt as though I could have had another 10kg, there.

Decided not to go bigger, as I maxed out yesterday, almost did today, and I should be maxing out on deads tomorrow. Sore ass for the weekend.

Yesterday

Squats

a very quick single on 180kg

DE bench

Very painful shoulder, so I could not put much force under the bar, so stopped.

Close grip bench

5x120 - should have been 10x120, but the pain stopped me Unhappy
2x140 - should have been 4, as above.

Desperately trying to stretch my upper back and shoulder muscles, so that I can lift properly on saturday. If it is not fixed, then the pain could bugger up both bench and deadlifts.

If there is a God, now's a good time for you to help me out!

Haha! That's why I mentioned in another thread, that I need to update my weight! The day after the competition, my BW had risen by 4kg - fat bas***d!

Unfortunately for Chris, I've decided that I'm going to stick to the U90s, as I'm going to get myself down to 87kg or so. As my date is coming up, I figured that now is the best time for it.

60 - felt like my knee was going to explode, so I left them out.

Bench

130kg - felt sooooo heavy!!

Military press

Top set of 5x60 - again, sooooooo heavy!

Performance was raped because I went up Snowdon on Sunday without much to eat. Don't know why, but I just didn't have much of an appetite.

Today

Box squats, very wide stance to remove some pressure from my knee(which is being a boob), beltless.

220 - easy, but left there due to my knee. With the RN being only two weeks away, I don't want to risk anything.

260 - not that hard, but not as easy as it should be, so I left it there.

Front squats

8x100 - biceps hurt, so sacked them off.

SLDL

4x180 - easy enough, but really couldn't be bothered. Ran out of time, so no more sets. No benching either
