Do hugs, not drugs. Member 136, 712 posts SQ 380, BP 242.5, DL 330952.5 kgs @ 110kgs Eq | I think preference for a particular sport is a bit like music or art, you either get it or you don't - it doesn't appear to be something you can "learn" from others. Football has a few redeming features I can see that, but I could never love it like you boys appear to. I don't like football but then I come from South Wales where the culture is towards rugby. Saying that there is huge support for Swansea City and the Bluebirds - both teams get a larger gate than any regional rugby team on a weekly basis. The reasons I don't appreciate football are many but have to include the huge indefensible salaries the players are paid (not that that is their fault), the dissent they show each other and the officals (I'd smack my little lads arse if he behaved like that participating in any sport), they cannot fight properly, there's no little skill but where's the blood and guts - and I mean proper blood and guts - Wayne Shelford had 33 stitches in his scrotum in the 1997 world cup after been stamped on by the French, got sewed back up and then came on and played a blinder. Each to his own though.

The one in the guns and roses teeshirt. Member 171, 2462 posts SQ 272.5, BP 140, DL 245657.5 kgs @ 80.2kgs Eq | If you think last nights game was a good exhibition of football then you don't have a clue what you are talking about. It did have plenty of drama but it also exhibeted all the worst parts of modern football, diving, moaning and bleating to the referee.

Its not as intersting to most people as they have no real allegience to the clubs involved. General consensus would say that I'm wrong though! Rugby is a Commonwealth Sport ............in 80% of the coutries in the World They don`t even know what the s**t is all about .. But you asked what the best spectator sport was not the most popular. Football is definitely the most popular; I wouldnt say it was the best though.

"Best" has to be defined as what the majority of people would define best, and by spectator numbers that surely has to be football.

I just dont see the point of watching some overpaid t**t kick a ball around a feild for an hour and a half. How can you say ronaldo is overpaid, Man utds turnover is £200 million, total wages of the team come to around 70 million- pre tax profit of £75 million, money well spent if you ask me

Best "has" to be defined as it's definition: best • adjective 1 of the most excellent or desirable type or quality. 2 most suitable, appropriate, or sensible. • adverb 1 to the highest degree; most. 2 to the highest standard. 3 most suitably, appropriately, or sensibly. • noun 1 (the best) that which is the most excellent or desirable. 2 (one’s best) the highest standard one can reach. 3 (in sport) a record performance. Technically as rule breaking is frivolous and allowed and indeed expected within football in terms of diving etc, then it is no longer covered by the definition of 'Sport' and as such a new entry into the dictionary is required, I suggest "Fag love" or perhaps "Batty boys parade"

Footballers have a god given gift, which is exciting enough to generate the income it does - without them there would be no game. People aren't as quick to say lawyers, stock traders etc. are over-paid.. what makes their trade any harder than football? It's a quick career, your body can be shot to pieces by the end of it and you're never out of the public limelight. Although it does seem that a lot of footballers waste their income and end up with nothing 10 years down the line.. e.g. Gazza.
