Technically it could be argued I was beaten by a mood swing. I took this in good humour until I realized that I had made a monumental blunder with my final guess, and with a little more care and caution I might just have managed a six. As if that wasn't bad enough I now appear to have a little more evidence that all those bas***d teachers from my schooldays who punched me in the head and called me a dozy c**t maybe weren't as wide of the mark as I would have liked them to be. | ||

I have just resorted to a wordle solver and if I had used my head it would have left three options - two very unlikely and one far more likely, so I would have almost certainly got it in six and without the use of said solver I would only have thought of that one as the other two unlikely ones were unknown to me. | ||

That is most unfortunate Pete. That spread of greens, especially with the final letter being what it was is an awful base to which to work from. I tend to only use tactical guesses as a last resort, but given your guess 3 I would probably have gone tactical on guess 4 to try to cut the possibilities down at least a little. Unlucky!! | ||

Appreciated. There's the difference between thee and me. Even the most cursory of inspections led me to believe that there were many options. Tactical could have reduced this but probably by not enough. I was, and still am, very reluctant to put that amount of effort in and still fail. My guessing ability however is usually pretty good.
