You'll be fine come Sunday!

Hammer down the water and anti-oxidants. Hopefully you'll be ok come competition time.

Tried on the singlet and new lever belt and took some light weights - no issues

Massage (PVC roller etc) and a lie in tomorrow - weight is very low so I might do some serious eating too

Sounds like a good plan. I'll see you on Sunday (now I have an excuse to be out of the house and away from the lady.) If you need anything (chalk, baby powder, bolts for belt etc.) then let me know.

Good luck Sunday Phil, have a great day!

First competition in a long while

Huge thanks to Funky Monkey who assisted me and Finch who shouted at me !

East Midlands Unequipped at Letchworth

Weighed in at 111.1 (!)

Squats - warm ups went ok, 60/100/140/160 - opened at 170, then 180 and a fail at 190
Bench - warm ups 60/80/100 - opened at 125, then 135 then 142.5 (2 whites for uneven lock)
Deads - warm ups 100/150/190 - opened at 210 (no belt) then 220 and a fail at 230

Total was 542.5 - pretty fair reflection of my training at the moment

Highlight of the day was watching Tony Cliffe get over 850 (I think) in my class - smooth as an otter's cravat. Nice bloke too - traps that needed their own postcode !

Qualifying total for the British Masters is under my belt - and seeing Tony and other's lift make me realise there is a lot more there to do ... onwards

Sadly Tescos had 4 "finest" scones for sale at 26p .... and I had a pot of clotted cream and a jar or jam in the fridge .... the day ended very well indeed !

Didn't you take a single at 110 on the bench?

Your 180 squat looked VERY comfortable and your lifts were definitely good. Job well done methinks. Tony Cliffe has just "filled out his weight class", mainly with his traps.

Think I did !

Was I speaking to you just before the weigh-in? Think you were wearing a sugden shirt actually?

Good lifts nonetheless! Cool

Nice work getting the qualifying total for the Masters.

Good to meet you yesterday Phil, you lifted well, with the two exceptions!

From where I sat it looked like a lack of confidence cost you the third squat and the last deadlift was down to leaving technique in the warm up room.

There is certainly more to come this year.

Hit a PB on the jam and cream scones - it was hard work but I powered through the sticking point - the first scone was a speed rep !

Squat

Bar x 20
60 x 5
60 x 5
100 x 5
140 x 5 (belt)
120 x 10 (belt)

Barbell calf raise

60 x 15
60 x 15

Deadlift

60 x 5
100 x 5
140 x 14 (straps)

Lying leg raise

2 sets x 10

Squats were a bit slow, deads were brutal - great fun
AvatarFunky_monkey
Nice bit of kardeeyo. You keeping squats/deads in the same session, then one pressing session or will there be more workouts per week?

Plan is - heavy squat plus back off and light deadlifts - next weeks session is heavy deads then safety bar squats for reps

An upper body session or two will round off the week. Probably alternating heavy bench and heavy overhead.
