Hehe! He is a disco f**ker! I tried power snatch the other day and suggested he give it a go - he did a few reps before started to front raise the bar! Unhappy

He is pretty strong though - he benched 100kg for a pb last week and I reckon after one powerlifting routine he might total close to 400kg.

If you see him again, tell him to stop disco pumping and lift heavy weights Grin

A pretty good, if fragmented training session today. I had to do the push pressing in the daytime, whilst there was still light, and then waited 1.5hours to deadlift and powerclean. This was a bit of a mistake, as it allowed my (somewhat tender from yoke walks) back to cool off.

Push press:

8x20kg
5x40kg (muscle snatched actually!)
1x60kg muscle snatch again
4x60kg (back to push press)
3x80kg
6x90kg - rep pb. Only supposed to do 4, but they were so easy! Previous best is a balls to the walls set of 5. This set of 6 was not failure at all.
5x90kg - thought it best not to push it. Not failure.

Deadlifts:

5x60kg
4x100kg
4x140kg
3x180kg
4x205kg - absolute max really! Nothing left. First time I have done more than a double over 200kg
1x205kg - lower back said no more, so I listened. Meant to be 2x4 but I did up the weight (was going to do 200).

Power cleans:

5x60kg
3x80kg
2x4x100kg - very hard. Low catches and so tired!

Overall a very good day - two rep pbs Grin

Another good training session today, despite feeling a bit weak and having had some strange aching in the right side of my middle back. Being back at work this week has sapped a little strength from me but f**k it - what can you do??

Squat:

8x60kg
5x90kg
4x110kg
2x130kg
2x4x140kg - the right weight - tough, but OK. Rep pb.

Bench, felt strong on this today:

8x60kg
5x90kg
3x110kg
2x4x120kg - easy. Rep pb - been stuck at 3 for months now.

Narrow grip bench:

2x8x90kg - tough

Thick bar curls:

6x10kg each arm
3x8x15kg each arm

Finger rolls and pronated wrist curls:

2x100kg (too much weight)
3x8x60kg

Static holds with 140kg, double overhand - 27sec and then 20sec.

Awesome Grin

We had a really good training session at the strongman facility at Markinch today. There were loads of guys training - about 25 including ourselves. Nice to chat to lots of people stronger than ourselves and get training tips.

Did a bit of a warmup with a barbell doing some cleans and presses and stuff.

Then onto stones, to a 60inch platform:

2x3x80kg for warmup
1x100kg
1x110kg
1x120kg, with tacky
1x130kg - easier than last time
3xfx150kg - managed to get it about 8inches off the ground at best. I don't have it in me at the moment.

Then did 80,100, 110 in one run. Lapped the 120 but had nothing left to load it.

Tyres

2x3x300kg for warmup

After that I began my mission to flip the 420kg tyre. First attempt it did not move. Second attempt I got it 2inch off the ground. Third attempt I got it one foot off the ground. Fourth attempt lasted about 30sec and I managed to very nearly flip it. Fifth attempt lasted about 30sec too, but I flipped the bas***d! Hurrah! I tried to flip it again but the desire was gone, and as was my energy!

Arm over arm drag dragging two chains attached together, weighing an estimated 500kg.

2 drags of about 12m. This was fairly tough, but I am lucky that I have the strong grip so that I do not have to wrap the rope around my arms. I'm very pleased with that as apparently it was deemed too heavy for a local strongman comp recently 8)

Then I played around with the 2inch diametre axle press. It only weighed about 75-80kg but it was hard, on account of it being a 2inch diametre bar, and the pickup being just under the knees. Just did 5 singles.

After that I did power stairs but not much as I was fairly fried at this point. Just one run of 5steps with 200kg.

Finally for grip work I did farmers holds with 150kg bottles. Now there is no chance that I could pick these up on my own, so I had a fair chunk of assistance! bo***cks to it - it's only for grip!

I did two sets, the first I got 15sec, and the second 20sec. I am very pleased with this.

I am not so so so tired, and my arms are a total mess. I shall get a photo shortly and post it

Had a really good training session today, which I have to say started better than it ended!!

As usual I had to train overhead press outside, due to lack of headroom inside, and I had the pleasure of lifting in the pissing rain!

Clean and press:

8x20kg
5x40kg
5x60kg
2x80kg
2x92.5kg
2x2x102.5kg - super sweet pb - this is actually a 1 rep max but I made two doubles with it. Both were quite easy, though the second rep of the first set was slow to lockout. I'll get the video up shortly.

Conventional deadlift - had to train convo instead of sumo due to the grazes up the insides of my arms. Needless to say there was do chance of me making 2x2x215kg!

5x100kg
3x140kg
2x170kg
1x190kg
1x210kg
2x2x170kg

The movement just feels wrong to me, and the form is bad. I think that I can pull at least the same convo, but my form goes to s**t. Work required.

Then I just pratted about with power cleans a bit, with some form work around 60-80kg, and a single at 100kg.

Very pleased with the push pressing pb - I will try for 107.5kg next week (pretty confident) then 110kg.

Well it was just actually me - Brian would definately have just trained inside.

Good, solid training today!

Didn't eat that much today, but then I didn't really move much.

Squat:

8x30kg
5x60kg
5x90kg
3x120kg
2x135kg
2x2x145kg - felt hard, looked quick. Took the weight down a bit from 147.5kg as I did not want to fail.

Bench:

8x60kg
5x90kg
3x105kg
2x117.5kg
2x2x127.5kg - 1st set pretty easy, 1rep of second set ok, 2nd rep 2nd set stupendously hard. Took about 12sec to press it - so so so close to failure!!! First time repping over 120kg.

NG bench:

2x10x75kg - not going heavy due to overhead pressing on Sunday

Fat boy chins - 2x5xbw

Some hamstring stretching.

Very happy Grin

Bit of a break on the updates. I have been training for the last week, just not that much.

I just missed 107.5kg push press on Sunday and did some random grip training on Monday.

Today's training session:

Bench:

10x20kg
8x60kg
5x90kg
2x110kg
1x125kg - super fast
1x137.5kg - fairly easy pb!!
fx140kg - not too far off

3x6x110kg, for some volume.

Chins:

2x5xbw
1x4.5xbw

Dumbell bent over rows:

8x50kg each arm
2x8x65kg each arm, pretty hard.

Really happy to have finally got my 300lb bench

Cheers Rob - it felt good!

Good training session today, based on the Templehall principle of 6 being the magic number (muchos gracias Spug!).

Squats:

8x20kg
6x60kg
5x100kg
5x6x120kg - first three sets a bit of form work, last two were a bit tough.

Seated barbell overhead press:

8x20kg
6x50kg
3x6x70kg
2x5x70kg - couldn't make 6 reps on these sets.

Chins (not 6's but a factor of 6):

8x3xbw

Pretty f**ked now!! I didn't feel like going heavy on the squat today due to alot of cycling and working. Pleased to make such alot of volume. I haven't done seated press in at least 6 months. I am so weak at this.
The chins I just did as triples so that I could get alot of them.

Good idea. I think its a really good way to get good at chins, do plenty of volume in low rep sets, enough so that it's hard, but you're not likely to miss. It'll definitely be in the routineTongue
