Squats:

Worked up to a 277.5 single which is a PB of sorts as it was in sleeves and not wraps. A solid RPE 8 also, 300 in sleeves is definitely lurking on the horizon especially given all my training so far is walked out and I've yet to benefit from the mono.

Then did 3 sets of triples with 260 which was hard work as they were at RPE 9.

Bench:

Worked up to RPE 8 single at 177.5, moved very comfy especially given how horrendous my shoulders/arms are feeling right now.

Couple of triples with 167.5 to round the session off.

I feel absolutely f**king battered but also very strong for 5 weeks out. 800 is there all day long now, all that remains to be seen is how much further I can take it. Current projections put me at around 830 at the moment.

Oh yeah, todays gym weight was 151kg... banter

Today was simply..

Squats
245/252.5/260 for triples

Bench
157.5/162.5/167.5 for triples

Really happy with how weights are moving right now.

Big of a mixed session today...

Trained over at IAG in Rotherham.

Programmed a squat single at 287.5 but I was too easy for RPE 9 so upped it to 295 and went again! Huge PB for me and in sleeves non the less, 300+ definitely there in comp now.

Bench was a different matter however, something just didn't feel right and I can't out my finger on it, everything just felt weak.

Loaded up 185 for a single which I should have smoked given recent training, however it completely buried me.

Had 5 minutes to get my composure and psych up before trying again but as soon as it unracked it felt like it was trying to tip forwards out my hands, bar was all over the place totally out of control. Went for the reply regardless as the whole gym was watching but inevitably it just buried me.

Not sure why, haven't eaten enough at all today so could be low energy? Bit unnerving though this close to comp. Will try the workout again on Thursday and see how it feels.

So yeah, mixed emotions!

Get that bench out of your head mate.

Your strong and in every comp prep you gotta have one bad day. Its for the best you had it in the gym and not on the platform!

Don't change your prep because of a miss.

Problem with a new gym is you cant know if weights are over or under.
(Unless they're eleiko calibrated or similar) and how the bars and bench feels

Stick 8 x 20s on to make 180 and they're all really 20.6 - straight away there's a problem if you are very near maximal effort.

Nah, I train on calibrated normally and used the SS calibrated plates tonight, it was definitely some unknown factor at work as watching back the video it looks ridiculous!! Unrack 185 and cant even hold it there, nearly drop it 3 times FFS.

not worried about strength, I know it's there, possibly just underfed and dehydrated, not sure really.
