Cheers guys. I think I'll do a proper write up tomorrow. Pretty beaten up now!

Si, I've been throwing the rowing in because I know the numbers on that for what's good. From today what I need to focus on for the biggest gains is couplets. i.e. sticking one thing after the other. I'm good at thrusters and kb swings but putting them one after the other was a world of pain!!! I'll be probably doing something like....

1 rowing session, varied really so some intervals.
2 Volume couplet session something like... Box jumps and deadlifts?? or thrusters and swings or power clean and bench. Always trying to keep them under 10 mins.
couple of running sessions a month.
certainly a lot more work on efficiency. I was smashing the PC today from hang but this bloke was doing them soooo fast. Wasn't about strength, just efficiency.
Some actual steady state cardio whenever poss...

Also obviously every session I'll be doing the same kind of strength stuff as I have i.e. Classic lift, Hip dominant (e.g. BS or DL) and some upper push and upper pull. Determined to qualify for the english champs and eventually british.

Shane I'm sure you'd be a monster mate. Best way of competing apparently is just wait for the open. Film yourself doing each wod and submit times. You'd be top 40 in europe EASY and that means you get a full invite to the euro regionals where the top 3?? go to the games!!

She's watching Harry Potter so here goes!

Arrived this morning at about quarter to 8 and weighed in at 8 exactly. Knew I was light so didn't bother taking any clothes/shoes off and just jumped on. 93.4 straight forward. I'm actually about 91.5 at the moment so hardly a huge 94!

Was fairly clear that almost everyone was there was a crossfiter. Lots of talk of paleo and reebok clothes everywhere! Got chatting to loads of people and they were all outrageously nice. Properly interested in how I trained and wanting to know everything about my Lifting. I felt a bit like a seasoned pro with my 1 comp under the belt and it was ages before anyone turned up with a CJ bigger than my Snatch opener so had a lot of questions on training and stuff. It was weird to feel like the big fish, been in the Strength community so much it's easy to forget not every 80kg bloke has got a 280x2 Back squat! (Shane i was bragging about you like you were my bum chum, lame i know!)

Didn't get to lift until about 12:45 and warm ups were a bit awkward because of some timing confusion. Anyway, haven't been snatching great recently and was pleased with warm ups. Hit 90 with about 5 mins to go before mine, felt good.

Snatch
97kg Good lift. Bit ropey but never in doubt, felt very strong but not the most coordinated
102kg No lift. Would have been a PB for comp but I just cut my pull short and couldn't get under properly
102kg No lift. Better pull but still not right.

Never good to go 1/3 so a bit miffed but resigned myself to a good CJ to make up for it. Warm ups were very rushed but again felt strong with 115, my last one.

CJ
125 Good lift. Accidental Power Clean, always makes me feel strong and then took that into a powerful jerk. Comp PB by 5kg Happy
131 No lift. Cleaned it well but it was slipping the whole time.. Couldn't get it racked and really cut my neck up on the Eleiko.
131 Good lift! All time CJ PB and 11kg comp PB. Last lift of the comp and the best Jerk I've managed. Pete Brezinka was judging and complemented me on the lift a bit later Happy Hopefully going to get a chance to do some training with him soon

Total 228 8kg Comp PB. Won the comp with biggest lifts and best sinclair Happy

240 in November is still on!

Had about an hours break and everyone was ridiculously complementary about my lifting. Like seriously everyone. Such a nice group of people!

Got put in the top group for the wods because I was the current leader.

First wod as mentioned above was:
42 KB swings (american so all the way up) with 24kg bell
30 thrusters with 45kg
18 Burpees with a jump over a 24" box instead of up.

So banged the swings out really easily, didn't even think they'd affected me until I picked the bar up for thrusters and nearly fell over! Had to break them down into 15, 9, 6 which lost me valuable time. The burpees were just awful after this. I stepped over the box, not jumped and managed to more or less do them in 1 go, little breath after 9. Awful, felt disgusting. Coupling these together sucked!

Time: 4:40 ish and 5th?! I think. Winner did 3:40 and the only difference was the thrusters. A bit more familiarity and I'll be laughing. Anyone reading this should try this wod. Jesus! Quad pump of DOOM!

Limped around a bit after and made a really conscious effort to recover which was no mean feat! Felt ok by the time they announced the next one. Prob an hour later?

Wod 2 as above
400m run then 3 rounds of:
12 60kg deads
9 hang power cleans
6 Shoulder to Overhead.
Then 400m run to finish.

Run sucked because of the previous wod but I finished the first 400 in 3rd? Ish...
Complex was hard but didn't need a pause really except for the last HPC into OH change over. Felt good really.
Then the last 400m. I was third to start it and overtook 2nd but then someone got me in the last 40m. I was blown. Couldn't fight back!

Finished this 3rd in 6:58. Sure I could do this a lot faster when fresh!

Overall came 1st, 5th and 3rd. End result was 2nd overall.

Really happy with the whole day. Loads of invites to train with people and beaten overall by someone who's very experienced and a real monster! Only been trying this stuff for a month really so think there's lots of potential to be significantly better. I've mentioned it before but top 40 in europe for the open would be very cool and I'd get to go to the european regionals. LONG way off that though for now.

I'm delighted with the CJ as well from this morning. Been stuck at 130 for ages so nice to be past it. Also nice that was my first ever actual PB in a comp Happy Happy days!

Great work Gingy!

Glad you enjoyed the comp, sounds like you did really well!

What's all this nonsense about Crossfitters being nice?? EVERYONE knows they are all dickheads!!!

The standard of regionals competitors is insane - good luck with getting there!

Where was the comp?

Cheers mate, lol. They were an interesting crowd, just people really enthusiastic about their fitness and unashamed! Clearly love their own community.

Comp was at train! You should have done it!

To get to a regionals would be awesome but besides efficient and experience I feel I can get to the right level. Great thing is it gives me loads to work on so it'll never get dull!!
