Ok, I converted the pounds to kilograms so it should be easier to read.

It is mate, thanks

Strangely (without any disrespect) some of your gym lifts are on the low side, wheraes your stone/yoke/frame work is strong as f**k!

Yeah, my gym strength is not the best but it's been improving. Really it's my biggest weakness at comps with max overhead and deadlifts but they have been improving. I've added 90lbs to my box squat, 65lbs to my bench and 50lbs to my deadlift this year. I've also recently switched from doing jerks to strict and push pressing so my overhead numbers are a tad low but I've got them up to 90% of what they were when I was just doing jerks and it's been more consistent. I have no idea why events are so much easier for me.

Walking – 31.5 minutes

Comments: Just walking today. Went late so it was much cooler outside. I want to get used to breathing in the colder air for Battle at the Barn. While it wasn't a factor for me last year when it was four degrees Fahrenheit, I was doing event training at night after work every week, getting used to moving breathing and recover on moving events in cold air. That is why I was kind of hoping to get in some medley work on event day this Sunday but the 90% chance of rain/sleet is putting a damper on that plan. Can't on Saturday since most training partners are competing in competitions other than strongman. Oh well, I have time. Got my workout schedule ironed out and ready to go.

Craig check out Tony's journal he trains inall weathers. And you can tooWink

Good idea about getting use to training In the cold (I do that every session) I think it make fir a different feeling in that even the events feel different in the cold too.

Solid work on your gym work in geting the numbers up. You onany type of plan?

I've done training during a thunderstorm before (chain yoke and farmers walk) but that was with my own equipment. Definitely not the smartness thing to do haha. I don't have any say when it comes to other groups equipment.

I kind of follow a routine of my own design. Two heavy days, two speed days. On my heavy days, I work up to a max single for the day and then do a downset with 90% of that max. Then I work up to a max triple on a secondary exercise. Then 3x12 on an assistance exercise. On the speed day I do 8x2 on ssb box squats for the lowerbody day and 12" log push presses on the upperbody day. I start at 50% - 20.5kgs and work my way up adding 2.2kgs every workout until I get to 2.2kgs over 50% of my max. Then I up the band tension and start over. Then I do either 4x5 (4x10) or 5x3 (5x6) on the secondary exercise, followed by 3x12 on an assistance lift. I rotate weekly. I can post up a more in depth explanation if you'd like

Nice to see a log over here Craig. I'm a subscriber of yours on youtube and always enjoy watching your vids.

I asked you this question on another thread but think you missed it - what benefit/carryover have you noticed from the barbell hip thrusts?

Cheers, good luck with your training, will be following your log.

Thanks. The biggest thing I've noticed is that walking with implements has gotten easier, so speed has improved. I've noticed increased power in my hips, especially with stones off the lap. If my lower back is not fatigued, I can launch a 190.5kgs atlas stone to 57" (rolled back since it was a bar). Even if I'm tired, I can grind out stone loads, something I couldn't do before. Noticed much more carryover to the squat than the deadlift though. But it is a good lift to use the week I do deadlifts since it's easy on the lower back but hard on the hips, glutes and hamstrings.

Cheers for that. So an increase in moving event speed, stone loading and squat?

Nothing for deadlift lockout (which is what I'm after!)?

There's a little but I get more out of doing stifflegged sumo pulls and rack pulls with band tension.
