Squats Wraps, 270 x 3. Front squats 150, 190 x 2, Belt, 230 x 2f3, 252.5 x f. By far the heaviest squat session I've ever indulged in. Got off to a great start when the 270 felt lighter to unrack than the 230 before it. The easiest raw 270 i can remember. Box squats felt great, seemed to get easier each set. Hardest part of the wrapped set was putting my wraps on, and making depth. Ok, full disclosure i couldn't make depth, I'll have to get a lot more practice in with the wraps before comp time. And of course my beloved front squats felt awesome, but i should know better than to chase PBs at this point, as i kept pulling my depth. | ||

Short on time today as i had to get training wrapped up and myself fed before my physio arrived at 8.30. This meant no time for anything other than the required deadlifts. Deads felt heavy. Really heavy. Im putting that down to the abuse my body got during Thursday's squat session. Legs just weren't working at all, session basically turned in to an exhibition of lower back strength. | ||

Beltless 1 power clean + strict monster log 85, 105, Wraps, 120.5 x 2, 2, 2, FTOH, 120.5 x 4 - PB. Axle push press 75, 115, Belt + wraps, 135 x 2, 2, 2, 4 - PB. TRX Triceps extensions, 3 x 12. Feeling really good today after my massage on saturday. Opted to hit the final 2 doubles on each of my main exercises as single sets of 4 to score a couple of cheeky PBs. Axle in particular was surprisingly easy, kind of curious to see what i can do on this one at xape now. | ||

Squats Belt + wraps, 280 x 2, 2. Front squats 140, Belt, 200 x 2, 2, 7 - PB. After wasting a lot of time checking depth on videos last week i decided to make things easier on myself and went back to squatting in tight shorts. 280 single felt a bit wobbly on the way down, but strong all the way up. Just very loose wraps this week to ensure depth was there. Both sets felt very easy. Nice light front squats, both doubles very speedy. Final set was just an exercise in lung busting. It hurt, though truth be told it was my grip that failed. By rep 6 i wasnt really holding the bar, just using 2 fingers to keep it on my chest. If it rolled no way i was stopping it. | ||

Off to Break the bar tomorrow to do a run through comp events, so just the required deadlifts today. Weight felt ok, but hitting multiple heavy sets after just 1 feed is not getting any easier. I suspect the heavier squat work outs also aren't helping. As I'm still managing to hit the required numbers Im a little curious to see what my pull feels like when I'm not contending with those problems. | ||

Apollons axle 105, 115, 125, Belt + wraps, 140 x 2. Farmers walk 115 160 x 15m - tore callous, Hold, 160 x 10s. 1 clean log press 94, 114, 134. Fun session today, just feeling out comp weight on stuff. All nice and comfy until the callous tore, I'll need to remember to file them right down before comp. Squat was a piece of cake, i could've done at least the next 2 reps with just sleeves. The 10th and final weight is billed as +350 (around 290 in real money id say,) absolutely no doubts I'll get that, so it'll just be about conditioning to see how many times i can rep it on the day before my lungs give up. Given the relatively light weights on all 3 static events i think this applies to everything. I'll have to up conditioning over the next few weeks if I'm going to hit the big numbers. The extra conditioning should also allow me to complete the loading without losing much time on the 4th implement. Even though they went wrong today i dont see farmers as an issue, partly because i dont think many will finish, and partly because i know that fresh my grip is more than capable of holding them. | ||

Axle push press Belt, 120, Wraps, 140 x 2, f, Belt only, 120 x 2, 2, Wraps, 130 x 2, 2, 140 x 2, 1, 1. Various grip chins, 5 x 3. Didn't want to do any cleans tonight with the missing callous, so had to do all of my pressing out of the rack. 1st rep on 120kg on strict press was a canny bit of a grinder. Other 3 flew up. I'm not sure if this was due to being out of practice with strict pressing a bar, or because i moved my chins to the end of the session, so back and shoulders maybe weren't as mobile as they could've been. Planned to just throw a few push reps on the end of my strict work to warm up, but my legs really werent firing. Did a few extra warm up sets, while i stretched the legs and ran the buffer over them. Floored by lower back spasm after the first double. Totally failed the 2nd and 3rd sets and had to drop weight. Which dickhead thought squatting and pressing 2 days before my press session was a good idea? After a lot of stretching and trash talking myself i got a bit better and the 130s moved well. I was delighted to nail the 140 again, and finished the session only 2 reps short of the planned target. Given how bad it looked at one point i can live with that. Planned to finish with some conditioning, but lost a lot of time by cocking up the push presses. I'll try to fit an extra session in on either friday or sunday to do the conditioning stuff. | ||

Hanging knee raises, 5 x 5. 17" box squats 290 x 2, 2. Squats Belt + wraps, 290 x 1 - pop goes the thigh. No idea what went wrong tonight. Things felt great, right up to the point they didnt. Just started coming out of the hole on my 1st rep of set 1 with wraps and felt a very unpleasant pop in my left teardrop. It noticeably swelled as soon as the wrap came off. Currently sat with an ice pack on it. Hoping its nothing, but honestly this felt like a bad one. Will just have to see what the morning brings. | ||

No bruising on the leg this morning, and while its very uncomfortable it still seems to work, so pretty confident I've not torn anything. Physio booked for the morning, but I'm now thinking as long as i dont squat heavy for the next couple of weeks i should be fine for the comp. | ||

Kettlebell swings 20 x 50, 50. TRX triceps extensions/rows/squats - 2 trisets. Obviously no push press today while the leg is recovering. Strict felt good. 125 is actually my PB double so to hit it for multiple sets, and sleeveless, is good progress. Then a little conditioning work, as well as some mobility and rehab stuff for the leg. Id hoped to do more sets on the kettlebell swings and TRX, but by the 2nd set it was very obvious i was favouring my right side so that was the end of that. | ||

Can't get to parallel in a squat without discomfort, but there is no longer any pain during day to day stuff like walking or getting off the toilet. Kettlebell curls/extensions 14 x 12/12 - 3 supersets. Leg felt ok on the TRX, so decided to feel out some weight. That felt substantially less ok, so bailed it after 2 singles and decided to have some fun. Had hoped for 180 on the bench, but there was a bit of a struggle for the 160 and much as i like my sleeves, they weren't going to give me the missing 20kg. Finished with more leg rehab stuff, and then soaked in a salts bath. | ||

Deadlifts 120, 220, 260, 300 x 1, 1, 1, Belt, 330 x 2 - very slow, 330 x 1f2, 335 x 1f2, Beltless, 220 x 8, 8, 6. Didn't really know what to expect today, but most of the warm ups felt good (the 2nd single on 300 was the exception, i pulled with my shoulders a little forward and the leg didn't appreciate the position that put it in) so figured id go for the planned doubles. Perhaps not the best idea I've had. While there was no pain in the leg i was definitely favouring my right side so just couldn't put the power down evenly. Final sets were just to open up the lungs. They worked. | ||
