Ok, just putting the feelers out for this one to see if folk would be interested. Saw this on another board (SDF) and i thought it was an exellent idea.

Basically the idea would be to arrange a "meet" where you would max out on three lifts of your choice. This would spread out the preparation needed for this and also would interest more than just powerlifters.

So any three lifts, they could be the classic powerlifts, or be on front squat, narrow grip bench, strict/push press, oly lifts etc, what ever you fancy. (no rob, tri kickback cant be allowed for reasons i cant explain!)

To have the meet arranged would give it additional focus in your training, you would have other lifters there to encourage you, give you s**t, and make it a bit more official. Could even get the powerlifts and oly lifts judged to a comp standard if you wanted to. Great chance to break some PBs!

The meet would be organised at Adlington club. For those who cant come due to distance could nail three lifts on the same day, and video them. Not as good as turning up to the venue, but this would make it more accessible to all.

Would you be into this idea? What would your three lifts be?

Another problem is the timing, there are comps going on all the time, but maybe we could find a slot in the next 6-10 weeks or something to have this?

Just to clarify I haven't checked this Alan yet but I'm sure there wouldn't be a problem if we all chip in a bit towards the club.

As long as I could get up id be very up for this. Id prefer it if you made it nearer 10 than 6 weeks though, give me a bit of time to get some training going and sort out transport etc. Id have to tie it in with something else in Manc to justify the train ticket but that shouldnt be a problem.

I like the any three proper lift thing. Sounds good.

I think it may be a good oppertunity for me to try my new sleek 1 rep maxes, however i may go for some sled drags , hayden buggery and weighted situps.

sounds a great idea dont know about getting to adders,looked at the national express bus and takes 9hrsEek have to change about 6 times going to brumi and everywhere else first,could split the cost with Tony if he was going nudge nudge wink winkHappy otherwise id be up for new bench pb by then seated press d,lift and would vid em.

Sure, I probably won't be able to come up to see you guys, unfortunately. But i'll happily max on the 3 and try get some vids up. Would be a good way to mimic a Meet and see how i'm shaping up.

What Faz said. I almost certainly won't be able to make it. However, I will plan to put in 3 max lifts on the day and video them. Great idea!

exellent, good response already so fast, so i think we should just set a date and start working towards it!

i'll just throw a date out: 20th of october

thats 7.5 weeks out. Too soon? (sorry Olly!)

or even 13th? (even more sorry, lol!)

Just saying that because there is the Unit 20 Strength Challenge on 4th of October (edit: november actually), and i can see fair few forum members doing that comp. But there are comps all the time, so its always going to be a compromise.

Once the date is set, we can start a new thread and invite folk to join. At that time I think it would be good hear the lifts as well, though its not the end of the world if they change, its not that serious.

As always my attendance would depend on my work commitments. I don't get Octobers rotar until end of Sept so can't give a definate one way or the other.

It is a good idea Joni, its always good to meet up for a bit of training.

aye of course, thats what i meant when i wanted the challenge not to be close to it. Wrote it wrong, edited now!

Personally i prefer 13th of october because its not that far away. And choosing 3 random lifts would mean that the peaking towards it doesnt have to be that sophisticated, unless you are on a road for the big three maxing anyway.
