Larry doesn't have a bad lift. But I don't know how good his grip or farmboy strength will be.

Well I would say Kieliszkowski is still a good deadlifter, he's good for 400kg on the right day (pulled 380kg after 4 events at WSM 2017). Larry hasn't pulled more than 410kg from what I know? Not a big difference, it's just that the level is so high that Kielisz looks like a weak deadlifter compared to the likes of Hafthor and Shaw.

I am always optimistic with Z...but Dubai event could be good for him. 18" deadlift. ..he basically has the record due to hummer tyre at Arnolds. Overhead looks good, heavy yoke is a good event for him.

Both Shaw and Z have great events at this Dubai event.

Where can I see the events for Dubai?

I think Z has got a good chance at top-3 if he's healthy, but at Giant's Live Finals his form looked way off. It was weird seeing him pull 3x3 with a 370kg axle in training, just to barely get 2 reps with 360kg in comp. But if the knee injury from the Glenn Ross comp was the only reason for his performance, then maybe it has gotten better in time for Dubai.

I have to say Z looked a bit tired on Saturday, in Manchester last year he did all 5 stones in 20 sec and now he couldn't even lift the last stone. Seems very possible he was ill. Hopefully he will be in better shape for World's.

Leaning back too much was what caused him to walk back, just like how he had to dive foward under the 220 in 2015

I hope Z pushes it to 235 but... I'm not sure he will.

Hard to say about Z. In July last year he failed a 181kg log at Ultimate Masters, in December he failed 200kg at World's Masters, leading up to this comp I think he pressed 210kg in training, who knows if he can add 20kg+ more the coming months.

That's the 216kg video from last week.

He got 400kg x2 in early October, he seems much stronger now.

He wrote in January that his PBs since injury was 205kg log and 420kg deadlift. Wouldn't surprise me if he can deadlift 430-440kg now.

I think Z can still compete with the very best, he proved so last year at Giant's Live. The only thing that might hold him back a tiny bit is his deadlift, but if he can get it back up to 440kg he won't lose too many points on it.

Strong as hell, I only remember seeing Svend Karlsen front squat that kind of weight with such ease:

It starts on the 28th of April and will be in the Philippines.

The events for the final look set to be -

Frame
Loading race
Max Log
Deadlift Reps
Truck Pull
Stones

Perfect final for Kieliszkowski:

Frame - Won it in WSM 2016 final.
Loading race - Won it against Shaw in WSM heat 2016.
Max log - 203x2 recently on instagram.
Truck pull - Won the plane pull at WSM 2017.

Both looked like they had more.
Could have four men hitting 1000 plus at the same comp.
Unreal!!

Amazing how 10 years ago people would say things like:

''Could have four men hitting 400kg plus at the same comp
Unreal!!''

I wonder if 500kg will be standard in another 10 years.

Boring and unlikeable roid monsters nowadays. Bring back some better events.

In 90's and early 00's there were NEW events every year. Nowadays we're stuck with the same boring yoke and too heavy truckpull favoring immobile people weighing 180kg+.

The elite back then and in the 80s looked and performed like athletes. Today's shower look and perform like insulin bloated jokers.

A bit harsh but it's safe to say that todays WSM with all top 3 athletes weighing 170kg+ is less enjoyable to watch.

The events in final should be more varied, and make it 8 events again, 6 events in a WSM final is too little.

Samuelson is currently running some good test cycle. The shape of him and vascularity.. this is not near natty, let alone his competition days.

True, you don't get that look naturally. He still looks pretty strong aswell:

Rodger said:Its crazy to see such a 'light' weight for log press in an international strength final even it was 20 years ago. Even I manage a single rep @ 100kg twice in training (only one had video evidence....). most of uk u90 would be over double figures nowadays I'm guessing

It was a different era. There wasn't even an overhead event in every strongman comp back then. Svend Karlsen did 10 reps here with 105kg, but set the world record at 185kg just a few years later.

The focus was more on endurance back then, and loglift and deadlift wasn't as important as it is today.

Do todays top 90's also squat 400kg like Karlsen and pushpress 200kg behind the neck like nothing, or bench 270kg+ like Samuelsson?
