Not sure he knows what that word is, although his philosophy must have changed, considering how much more drugs testing there is.

Essentially he gets his lifters to perform training max's almost every session with very limited selection of exercises, using the SAID principle (Specific Adaptation to Imposed Demands). However his era of dominance was when the eastern block use steroids extensively he was also known as the butcher as many of his athlete got injured or only last one cycle of 4 years. Although his post famous lifter was very good.

However many people try to emulate this philosophy unsuccessfully as he used his own skills to make the program work and slowly tapered an athlete to less exercises over time.

Very detailed, not convinced his philosophy as you say would need to be altered

Not too worry I'm sure other people were thinking the same thing

Indeed. I think the results of this philosophy might well have validated it.

This is very true, his result were astounding.

Most of the alterations are people trying to adapt this to their Powerlifting/Strongman or Athletic training, something which doesn't make sense for many reasons but the main being that his lifter had been lifting since very young ages meaning they were very advanced and had access to every recovery system possible , even there meals were regulated.

What would be much more intrest is to apply the SAID principle , which is all Ivan done but in an extreme form

I think that you are right in saying it is very weightlifting-specifc. There are many more knowledgeable people on here who I believe have trained that way and who would doubtless be able to give more informed comment (Littler? Mark Clegg maybe? I am sure Mike knows a hell of a lot, being from that background).

Not sure if I would credit his lifters' access to recovery and experience as being different than other sports. Whilst it is right that these are massive factors, other professional athletes have the same facilities. I think the relatively complex nature of the movements is more relevant. But as I said, others can say more with more authority.
