Martin1956 said:Unfortunately world record can only be set at national championships or international competitions, with three international referees adjudicating, but nonetheless it would be great to see the IPF deadlift record beaten on 6th December. And fantastic motivation for my new lifters to learn who they'll be sharing the platform with.
Suposedly the best deadlift in an IPF competition ever is 430kg - I guess if a record can't be claimed that should be the target to be the best ever IPF deadlift.

The official record is 408 and I guess that's what Mark will be looking to beat at the British Seniors 2010. 430 is a hell of a lift. When was that done? And by whom?

It was Konstantinovs who pulled 430kg.
I guess Felix will be to start with having a go at beating Andy Kerr's 377.5kg deadlift set on 22/05/1983.

Am I missing something here?
I would have thought that certain IPF rules would preclude Mark Felix from competing in an IPF competetion (much as I regret this, big fan of Mark's lifting that I am).

No such weight class, we stop at 125+ here.

It's a very natural question (ahem); the fact is, astoundingly (but I and the others who know him believe it for a number of reasons, some less naive than others), that he is in compliance with these rules. I suspect it's vanishingly rare in strongman, but there you are.
Certainly when the fact that compliance with these rules can be (and for a high-profile chap like him, you'd think would be) checked at any time at random was explained to him, he was totally unconcerned.

I can only guess at the rules you are refering to, but if I guess correctly, then yes the rules most certainly exist but Mr. F is on the right side of them and to the best of my knowledge always has been.

Quote from Felix on his athlete profile the WSM site when asked "What has been your biggest disappointment whilst training as a strongman?"
"Stereotype: people presume if you are strong and muscular you have to be taking something illegal. That's a big disappointment."

Dont really care about Felix, Bullock, Shaw or drug testers in this one to be honest. Found out some big, BIG news last night. Adlingtons perenial die hard Steve 'Turnermator' Turner is dusting his Polish boots off and turning out for this one. The little fella's not had a good time of things lately outside of the gym but has kept turning up and doing his thing in his style when most would have thrown the towel in. I'm sure I wont be the only one giving the lion hearted legend plenty of support on the day, assuming that he really has entered.
Go get em Stevie T. The worlds a better place with you in it mate
