Adlington Push and Pull Open - 2010

January 23rd 2010

This will be a charity event, raising money for the New Manchester Childrens Hospital charity.

Due to the success of previous Adlington events, we have decided this time round to make it bigger and even better!!!!

The event will be run at a new venue, kindly provided by Adlington Barbell Club President – ‘Handsome’ Fred Smith, and A6 Storage Mill Lane Whittle-Le-Woods Chorley PR6 7LX

Format:

Lift one:

Two hands anyhow: The bar will be taken from the floor to overhead ‘anyhow’. The lifter will receive a down signal from the referee once the bar is overhead and under control.

· Continental cleans are allowed.
· Multiple attempts (within the time limit) are allowed
· No press out rule

Lift two:

Deadlift: Traditional deadlift rules apply. The bar must be raised to point where the hips are locked and shoulders are back, before a down signal will be given.

· No straps
· Multiple attempts (within the time limit) are allowed
· Hitching is allowed

Each competitor will be allowed three attempts for each lift.

Competition qualification standards:

There will be a minimum standard for an application to lift to be considered. There are a number of ways to compete.

Full Push and Pull

Overhead: Lifters competing must have a first attempt of no less than 120kg

Deadlift: Lifters competing must have a first attempt of no less than 210kg

Overhead Only

To compete in the Overhead only lifters competing must have a first attempt of no less than 150kg

Deadlift Only

To compete in the Deadlift only lifters competing must have a first attempt of no less than 300kg

Competitor Entry Fee: £10 (all entry fees will be donated to New Manchester Childrens Hospitalcharity)

If you wish to apply to lift in what will be a spectacular day, please email adlingtonBBC@hotmail.co.uk with your details, including proposed starting poundages.

Please note that places may be limited, if the event is over-subscribed a reserve list will be held.

Expressions of interest to lift must be received no later than 13th November 2009

Adlington Barbell Club reserves the right to allow a number of ‘wildcard’ entries if it so wishes.

Spectator entry fee: All spectator fees will also be donated to the chosen charity, suggested amount £3 per person

Refreshments will be available on the day.

Sponsorship:

We have the facility to accommodate a limited number of stands at the venue, so if you have anything you would like to promote / sell please get in touch to discuss.

There is also the option for banners to be displayed at the back of the platform, again if this is something you are potentially interested in please email for details.

All money raised from sponsors will also be donated to the chosen charity.

Love the video, great idea too

Sounds good, but to me the minimum openening deadlift looks light compared to the minimum overhead for the full push and pull?

I think I placed okay overall last time (and with a non-hitched unequipped deadlift) and had a really good day but the criteria rules me out unless I can add 5kg to my overhead by then.

Yet more motivation to improve my overhead I guess!

The charity looks like it will be the new Manchester Childrens Hospital. Awaiting confirmation from them on this.

Had mails wanting to lift off Karl Grant, Adam Travis and Andy Goswell. None of them are talking less than 200K OH. Suspect one or two board members will be up for it too.

I'm in.

some good options there to entice many a beast !!
AvatarBoar
you gonna put 200kg to bed andy ?
AvatarSparrow
Does 'no press out rule' mean that there will be no rule on press-outs (so they are allowed), or that there will be no press-outs allowed?

Looks like it's going to be a top day!
