It should be a great couple of fights. I think if Monson can get a clinch with Sylvia he has a better chance to get him down and win, if he just tries to shoot for single and double leg takedowns Sylvia will win. Sylvia's sprawl is pretty good so i can't see Monson taking him down that way. Once on the ground Sylvia has no chance.
The Hughes/GSP fight is so hard to call. Personally i reckon GSP is by far the better fighter in every aspect of the game, striking, wrestling and ground work, but Hughes always finds a way to win.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say we will have two new champs tho.

wash your mouth out bobby !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
as the proud owner of every single UFC event,i feel i can smugly predict both results.............
GSP to shock the world and out-hughes hughes.
Silvia im afraid although he has a soft body compared to the stocky monson, his skill will beat him down and out.
some other good fights on the undercard including nick diaz and frank mir makes his second attempt at a comeback.

damn! Predictions are against Monson!
remember, monson is an honorary member of sugden barbell - he almost came to train with us last time when he was in manchester Ok, thats strecthing it a bit, lol! Next time we need to get him over though.
Anyways, he is the man and sugden crew is required to root for him

joni , i hope he wins,i really do , seems a right nice chap , matt from powerlifting uk was due to train with him too (MMA, bangy pushy train) but it never came off.
the UFC heavyweight div needs fresh blood, a couple of the lesser ranked PRIDE fc guys would mix it up a treat

I would put my money on Monson, not at lot mind you. I think the fight will end quickly, Monson will get a submission or he will get knocked out. If he can get a takedown without taking too much damage he's in with a great chance.
Have to agree with you Jonno about the current state of the UFC heavyweights, its a bit thin on talent compared with pride. I wouldn't mind seeing the likes of Aleks Emelianenko coming over along with big Nog and even Mark Coleman (even if he is past his prime).
Saying that tho the welterweight division in the UFC is awesome - Hughes, GSP, BJ, Karo, Sanchez, all world class fighters.

Now thats cool
