I watched the 1% club last night and went completely to pieces after the birthday cake question, failing all that followed except for the very last one which I got in an instant.

My thanks therefore to A) death by deadlift for making me add up consecutive numbers and B) Doctor Rick for showing me the quick way to do it.

T = N(N+1)
------
2

Where T is the total and N is the highest number.

Can't get that to appear the way I typed it but I'm sure you get the gist

The ritual checking of the watch on a Sunday morning is tinged with sadness this morning as once again we have the evil that is British Summertime inflicted upon us.

When it's noon in Greenwich, what time is it in Greenwich ?

Careful now, it's not as obvious as you might think.

Hint - it isn't f**kin noon.

This looks like it should be rather simple from here, but it wasn't. I went through a lot of "that's not a word" to finally, "actually, that could be" and it was.

Never heard of it

I don't fancy my chances of ever using it either.

The original story was that the inventor of the game found around fifteen thousand words with five letters and his girlfriend whittled that down to around three thousand by removing the unusual and the unlikely.

I have good cause to doubt that.

Monday, 1st April, start 15:00

Close grip bench press
20 x 5
20 x 5
20 x 5
30 x 3
40 x 3
50 x 3
60 x 3
70 x 3
80 x 3
82 x 3
85 x 2
70 x 3
70 x 3
70 x 3

The eighty five was a shock, it felt heavier than it should have. I used to blame bank holidays for poor performance in the past but since retirement that simply won't wash, so I don't know what happened. As going heavier was not a sensible option I reduced it to seventy which was so much easier, and the real surprise was that those last three sets hardly troubled the shoulder at all. I shall report all this during my second shock wave treatment tomorrow.

Only two of us down tonight and Bolton bloody Wanderers' fans delight in driving very slowly along three lanes of motorway for about three miles before their precious bloody Reebok / Macron / Unibol / Tough Sheet soddin' stadium. And the buggers won too.

Bah !
