Yesterday as I left work I listened to the 3:20 travel bulletin, it warned of trouble ahead at junction 5 on the M61 northbound, this is exactly my route, I drift off the M60 onto the M61 at the very start and head northwards to junction 6.
The trouble, the radio told me was in the form of mattresses strewn across the carriageway. It gave no details as to numbers
Needless to say not a mattress was seen, no mattress related matter at all, no vehicle was stranded, no humans in high vis nonsense looking for anything that should not have been there. Not a damned thing
The next travel bulletin was a trifle late - at 3:45, it still warned of rogue mattresses at the junction I had just driven past.
Why ? Why would they do this foolish thing ?

Another Friday off, need to go to Bolton either today or tomorrow to pick up the stuff I bought some time back. Probably today and probably immediately before the gym, just have to work out a start time now.

Wordle in 6 for me too, including a cheeky (cheaty?) usage of an electronic dictionary prior to committing to my final attempt.

I have decided that I am fine with this, the fact that recently a couple of words have been really rather obscure* is the driving factor behind the change of mind
*other opinions are doubtless available

Got it in four today, I had the middle three but it took quite some time to work out what it could be. Again not the most common of words, I have used it but probably not this year.
Until today

There was a day not long after they'd taken it over where people who'd loaded the site that day got the new answer (AROMA) and those who'd left the tab open for a few days got the original (AGORA). We are talking very obscure words, as well as a few the NYT thought might be offensive.

Aroma is not as obscure as Agora in my view. Aroma I don't use much bit I am familiar with it but Agora I never heard of. It would take quite a bit of research I suspect to truly determine what is obscure and what isn't.
Offensive both saddens and amuses me, knowing how prudish Americans tend to be I have often toyed with the idea of starting one with the word "penis" just to see if it gets accepted or rejected
I don't disagree with a word of your post though

That is splendid news and has cheered me considerably. Thank you
