Excellent! Thanks Bryn.

Average at best mate -
I was a good young lifter in my teens but then I found the females and booze !!
2005 94kg
Training - 165kg - 190kg
Comp - 160kg - 185kg
2006 94kg
Training - 170kg - 195kg (200kg clean)
Comp - 160kg - 186kg
2007 broken my wrist !! Struggled to get back to full fitness and they took away my funding
My son was born in 2007 so that was the end of that - retired at 27 !
Although I did clean and jerk 195kg in front of the last Alan Fairclough in 2009 which was an honour !

That's definitely not average considering you were pretty much doing the british records (165.5/196).

Also, very few lifters in the world have been elite lifters in all 3 strength sports!

Unlucky with the injury. i did wonder why you stopped.

You ever thought about doing it again at some point in between strongman? Maybe just to break the british records!
» Concept 2 Rowing Times. (Go to post)19-07-2015 @ 11:00
did a 14.7 100m a couple of weeks ago. tried it a few more times with 15.0 and 15.2 that day and ended up injuring my back as i wasn't warmed up for the later ones.

don't think i'll be trying this again for a while!

impressive front squat! Been training these for about a year to help a knee injury and 200kg is definitely a great long term goal!

So MANY champions ! IT KILLS WEIGHTLIFTING

I remember training a kid for 10 weeks and he went and won the British Champs ! What did he do then ?? Well he just quit ... It does nothing to go and win an empty victory ! If he went and came 12th then i guarantee this kid would still be competing today ..

I`ve had tons of the same example over the years ..

I believe we need British championships at under 16 level only . Then Junior . Then Senior

Everybody should be encouraged to participate in the British Senior Championships as soon as they can hit qualification .. The National teams should be selected from this competition ..

You need to create competition .. I f**king hate all the 10000000 Champions BULLs**t

That why Powerlifting has no f**ker watching .. OH another World Record !! No-one cares

Just out of interest Mark, what are your in and out of competition bests for weightlifting?

You must be one of our best lifters also? I know you've had ridiculous numbers in all three strength sports.
» upgrading to a fancy bar - worth it? (Go to post)19-07-2015 @ 10:12
I bought a 1500lb rated bar from fitness superstore years ago and never had any problems with it. They're less than 100 quid!

» GBPF banning (Go to post)03-07-2015 @ 18:34
Thanks to Sam for posting. Very refreshing to hear honest stories about PED's. I've personally never been tempted and never will but have always been interested on postive and negative effects of performance enhancers on the human body. The negatives far outweigh the positives imo.

I agree to the comments with regards to powerlifting. If you want to use, just compete untested. There's a choice. Just like you wouldn't rock upto a raw comp trying to hide a suit/breifs!

that's alot of weight!
» Powerlifters who've broken 1000kg total (Go to post)14-06-2015 @ 15:02
A controversial question, but is Ray Williams arguably the first clean athlete to break 1000kg?

Saying that, apparently Mark Henry was also!
