Thought it was about time i posted a journal so here it will be. Been training for just over a year. Done 2 novice comps, Unit20 & Dumfries & had a great time at both Grin ....

Entered next years Unit novice comp so time to get my finger out as my pressing is awful & im sure a few of the unit guys can confirm lol Angry

140x2, 160x2, 180fail (not good) 140x6

Cg Bench
60x6, 70x6x2, 60x4x4, 50x12

Rear delts on machine
Warm up
50x6x2, 60x6x2, 70x4, 80x4

Dumbell press (each hand)
15x4x2, 17.5x4x2, 20x4x2, 15x8

Barbell press from rack
Warm up
40x4, 50x4, 60x2 Shoulders now fried

Lat pull down (wide grip)
60x6, 70x6, 80x6

Bent over rows
70x4x4

And finished with some tricep pushdowns (cant remember the weight)

Not the best session ive ever had & strength down a fair bit especially the deadlifting, but ive been a lazy boy for a while & need to get myself back in the game.

Hoping posting a journal with gine me the kick Im needing Grin

180 fail is a bit depressing but apart from that not too bad a sesh seeing as you have been out for a week or two, i'm sure the weights will go up now you are in steady training mode again Grin

Unit 20/32
1st outing at the new buzz unit 20 (defo a quality place & massive)

Axle clean & press
Bar x 6, 65kg clean x4 & press x1
75kg cleans only
85kg cleans only
95kg clean
Thought axle was 30kg but found out after it was 35kg so better workout than 1st thought. Still a mile away from pressing 90kg though but still time Confused

Think a few guys may be surpised with the 90kg clean on an axle (not easy)


Deadlift (normanl bar)
warm up
100x4, 140x2, 160x2, 170x1
140x6


Arm over arm
280kg x 15m (not timed)


Farmers holds
55x4, 95x2 (not timed)


Left it at that. Crazy cold & my hands were numb lol.
Pleased with a 95kg axle clean tho Grin The rest was so so

Finished with 3 sets of tricep push downs.

Felt a wee bit stronger today but overall my strength is still a good bit down & especially on deadlift/squat.
Squats thursday so will see how that goes Confused

Hardish going
Not done any squats for 2/3 weeks so wasnt too sure. Not too bad, 140s felt like hell but reckon a couple of weeks & back to PB zone Grin

Oh & some dumbell hammer curls 15x8x2

No Sunday training! Choked with cold & left elbow SORE...

Close grip bench
Warm up. 40x6, 50x6, 60x4

Rear delts (Dumbells)

Warm up, 50x6, 60x4, 70x2

15x8, 20x4, 25x1 (failed 2nd rep)

Tricep push downs
45x10, 60x10, 77x4, 45x12x2


Had 5min to spare so tried some Boar inspired kettle bell swings. Only 16kg bell x15 each hand. Gets the heart pumping so will add more sets of these each week Grin

Strength only up a little bit but still up so that will do. Small gains for the next 6/8 weeks will help.

Finished with Kettlebell swings 16kgx15x2 each hand. Kind of like these

Overall a bad bad workout! Squat form all over the place & almost passed out trying to fight the 2nd rep on the 160 so had to give up & BOMB it. 15" deadlifts best of 210 & failing 200 then 180 not good. Think i only have a few lifts in my back at this lift so will have to train smart..........
