Well I thought so as well.
My wife bought me the test for my birthday and turns out mostly Northwest Europe (England-Wales and maybe Frank/ Germanic/ Duch) with a lot of Norwegian and some Swedish and a small splash of Celtic and nothing else at all... Not even a drop of mediterranean. Quiet surprised. However, feeling very Viking this good day.
Why do I look Spanish then? Weird.

My father had this done recently, and it was interesting primarily because he knew nothing about one side - his father had been adopted. Allegedly he's 48% Ashkenazi (no surprise there) and 48% Scandinavian (we had no idea).
This may go some way towards explaining why I look like a s**t Viking until you put me in a stereotypical hat, at which point I look like a s**t rabbi.

I received an ancestry dna test as a gift and was very interested to see what would come back. Was expecting to see perhaps some percentage of Scandinavian or other European in addition to mainly Irish.
I got back a result of 100% Irish. Most boring result ever.

I've heard that if you do one of these tests they store your DNA and can use it against you if you or any of your blood relatives ever commit a crime.

You'd think that- but it's already happened in the USA- with some of the biggest companies sharing their info with the FBI.
Willingly giving your DNA to be held on any database is never a good thing IMO- only a matter of time before it's moved on to some other use.
